Panchkula- ACP Vikram Nehra, head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the death case of Aqeel Akhtar, son of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa, said that there was definitely some tension between the father and son.
The SIT chief told reporters, “Nine police personnel deployed for the security of his house were questioned yesterday. Apart from this, we will also question all his domestic helpers tomorrow. We have completed the search of the house. Now we have also found the deceased’s phone and laptop.” He said, “There was no doubt about the tension between the father and son. What is coming out is that Aqeel had ideological differences with his family. He had also mentioned this in the viral video. Our first priority now is to find out the cause of death. We have not yet called the family for questioning.’’
Meanwhile, the Haryana government has sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case registered against former Punjab Police Director General (Human Rights) Mohammad Mustafa, his wife and former Congress minister Razia Sultana, their daughter and daughter-in-law in connection with the death of their son Aqil Akhtar.
“The Centre has agreed to extend the jurisdiction of the CBI to Haryana to investigate the case. Once the central government issues an order, the CBI will formally take over the investigation,” an official said.
