Ambala, June 26:- Ambala Police, under the leadership of IGP Ambala Division Pankaj Nain and SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat, once again conducted simultaneous raids in the identified hot-spot areas for drug smuggling under 'Operation Maidan' in the early morning with Dog Squad and ANC teams. Apart from the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and Dog Squad, teams from Ambala Cantonment, Mulana, Padhao, Sadar Ambala City, Barara, Sector 9, Panjokhra Sahib and Narayangarh police stations were involved in this extensive search operation.
During this intensive search, the houses of the suspects were searched and the persons involved in the smuggling were identified. The police seized a Scorpio car and 15 suspected two-wheelers from the spot. Further legal action will be taken after checking their documents.
The police spokesperson said that the Ambala police has adopted a special strategy to break the backbone of the drug smuggling networks. Police officers in plain clothes have been deployed to keep a close eye on the smugglers. These officers are posing as fraudulent customers to reach the drug smugglers.
Reporting the case, Ambala SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat has issued a stern warning to the criminals. He said: "Drug smugglers in Ambala will not be spared under any circumstances. This campaign will continue without any prior notice in every hot spot area of ??the district.
Drug smugglers should either give up crime and return to the mainstream or be ready to face serious consequences." Ambala Police has appealed to the public for cooperation by issuing a special helpline number: 9729990112.
