Nawanshahr:- Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjeev Sharma today visited Government Senior Secondary School, Langroa and Municipal Council Office Nawanshahr and reviewed the ongoing work related to rationalization of polling booths on the spot.
During this, he held a review meeting with BLO of Booth No. 109 Balwinder Kaur and BLO of Booth No. 110 Daljit Singh and got information about the progress of the work.
Sanjeev Sharma instructed the BLOs that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, all the work of rationalization of polling booths should be completed only after verifying every fact on the spot. He said that the main objective of this process is to provide more convenient, accessible and better voting facilities to the voters.
He said that every BLO should conduct a detailed survey of his area and enter factual information based on the location of polling booths, availability of buildings, number of voters, distance and other specified parameters in the prescribed proforma. He clarified that there should be no scope for any kind of negligence or wrong information.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that fact-based rationalization will not only provide better facilities to the voters but will also help in making the election management more effective, smooth and fair.
He directed the BLOs to cooperate in filling the enumeration forms of voters by 24 July 2026 under the Special Summary Revision (SIR). He also said that it should also be ensured that the filled forms are digitized within the prescribed time.
