Una, April 23: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mahendra Pal Gurjar has issued directives to the concerned departments to remove silt from the Swan River, streams, and drains within the Una Municipal Corporation area prior to the monsoon season, in order to prevent waterlogging issues during the rains.
He stated that the accumulation of silt obstructs the flow of water; consequently, during rainfall, water enters roads, agricultural fields, and homes, causing distress and inconvenience to the public.
He was presiding over a meeting held on Thursday under the aegis of the District Disaster Management Authority to address this matter. The meeting specifically focused on reviewing pre-monsoon preparedness within the Una Municipal Corporation area.
The ADC directed that the cleaning of all drains, streams, and the Swan River falling within the municipal limits be completed on a priority basis. He further instructed that prior permission be obtained wherever the work involves Forest Department land, and that coordination be established with local residents in cases involving private land.
He directed all departments to work in mutual coordination, complete the necessary formalities in a timely manner, and ensure that this entire task is accomplished before the onset of the monsoon.
Officials from various departments, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Una Abhishek Mittal, Deputy Conservator of Forests Vikalp Yadav, and Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Manoj Kumar, were present at the meeting.
