Karnal, September 10:- Karnal District Police is continuously taking strict and effective action against accused involved in stealing wires from electricity motors installed in fields. In this regard, Assandh Police Station has succeeded in arresting an accused in a case of theft of electricity wires from fields. A total of 13.600 kg of stolen copper wire and a motorcycle used in the crime were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ajit Singh alias Chetan Singh, son of Mangal Singh, resident of village Kheri Sarfali, Assandh, District Karnal.
The action was carried out by a police team constituted under the leadership of Inspector Rajesh Kumar, SHO of Assandh Police Station. Acting on a secret tip-off, the police team apprehended and arrested Ajit Singh from Kheri Mandwal. The police recovered 13.600 kg of stolen copper wire and the motorcycle used in the crime from his possession.
Investigating Officer Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahender Singh said that a case had been registered at Assandh Police Station regarding the theft of electricity wires from fields. According to the complaint, electricity wires were stolen from the complainant’s field, while wires of electricity motors, grips and other equipment were also stolen from the fields of nearby farmers. In view of the seriousness of the matter, Assandh Police had been making continuous efforts to trace the accused and uncover the incidents.
Acting swiftly on the basis of reliable information, the police team apprehended Ajit Singh. The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court, which granted four days of police remand for detailed interrogation. During the remand period, the police questioned the accused extensively, based on which 13.600 kg of stolen copper wire and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to a total of eight incidents. These included seven incidents of electricity wire theft from fields in village Binaula and one incident of electricity wire theft in village Rahra. The police also questioned the accused regarding other incidents and stolen property, and further investigation in the case is underway.
After the completion of the police remand period, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court again today, from where he was sent to District Jail under judicial custody.
