Una, October 13 – With the aim of increasing farmers' income and promoting modern horticulture techniques, the Horticulture Department, District Una, is organizing a 5-day training camp for farmers. This training camp will be held from October 13 to 17, 2025, at the Indo-Israel Horticulture Excellence Centre, Sidhpur (District Mandi).
Dr. K.K. Bhardwaj, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, Una, wished all the farmers a successful training. He informed that the training team is being led by Horticulture Development Officer, Dr. Kavita.
The geographical and climatic conditions of Una district are extremely favorable for the cultivation of various fruit crops. Crops such as mango, citrus fruits, dragon fruit, pomegranate, guava, papaya, Japanese fruit, peach, plum, and pear can be successfully cultivated in the district.
Considering these potentials of fruit crops, this training camp has been organized under the centrally sponsored Integrated Horticulture Development Mission so that farmers can learn new horticultural techniques from experts at the Center of Excellence and implement them in their fields.
Dr. Bhardwaj explained that the department is also encouraging farmers to adopt high-yielding crops such as dragon fruit, avocado, and Japanese fruit, which will increase both crop diversity and farmers' income.
The state government has launched several schemes for the overall development of the horticulture sector. By taking advantage of these schemes, farmers can not only become self-reliant but also significantly increase their income. He said that most of the state government's horticulture development schemes are now available online, which farmers can avail from the comfort of their homes.
He appealed to the district's farmers to contact their nearest horticulture officer to avail themselves of the department's various schemes and training programs.
