Una, August 4: The Una district administration has awarded Fixed Deposit (FD) certificates to four eligible persons with disabilities who work at the 'Pahal Canteen'—an outlet run by persons with disabilities—located within the old Deputy Commissioner's office complex. During a program held at the district headquarters on Tuesday, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal handed over FD certificates worth ?11,000 each to three beneficiaries and one worth ?5,100 to another beneficiary.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the government and the district administration are striving to ensure that persons with disabilities become self-reliant and integrate into the mainstream of society. He noted that the funds provided through these FDs would serve as financial support for the beneficiaries in the future, helping them meet expenses related to medical care, education, or other essential needs.
He emphasized that the administration's objective is not merely to provide assistance but also to offer opportunities for persons with disabilities to move forward with dignity. Such initiatives boost their self-confidence while ensuring financial security. He added that the district administration is continuously working to ensure that eligible persons with disabilities derive maximum benefit from government welfare schemes.
Officials, including the Assistant Director of the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (Una), were present at the event.
