Chandigarh:- A 7-day special NSS camp, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully concluded at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26. More than 100 NSS volunteers participated in the camp, which focused on the theme of ‘Digital Literacy and Skill Development’. Sub-themes included ‘Drug-Free Youth India’ and ‘Dowry-Free India’.
The camp was inaugurated by the college principal, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, and the State Liaison Officer of NSS, Dr. Nemi Chand Golia (Chandigarh Administration). The morning sessions each day focused on physical fitness, including self-defense training by the Chandigarh Police and Zumba classes conducted by Ms. Simran Padda of Fitness Matters Academy.
The chief guest at the valedictory function was Dr. Parveen Goyal (Associate Professor, UIET, Panjab University and NSS Coordinator). A prize distribution ceremony (2025-26) was also held on the occasion. NSS Program Officer Dr. Reshu Mandal delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the co-in-charges, Dr. Tajinder Singh and Dr. Bhajan Singh. The cultural program was conducted by the student coordinators.
During the camp, expert lectures were organized on topics such as civic responsibility, road safety, cybersecurity, disaster management, AI, and business automation. Environmental awareness activities included waste and e-waste management, an educational visit under Swachh Survekshan 2026, and a tree plantation drive.
Sessions related to women's and social issues included menstrual hygiene, the status of women, prevention of child sexual abuse, and free distribution of sanitary pads. Health and wellness sessions provided awareness on drug de-addiction, HIV/AIDS, mental and physical health, mind programming, first aid, and organ and eye donation. Under the community outreach programs, the camp was made educational and inspiring by organizing Lohri-Sangrand celebrations, an awareness rally to Kishangarh village, street plays, and sports activities.
