Mohali, June 1: The North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, has launched a 20-day theatre training (performance-oriented) summer camp for students and other interested participants during the summer vacations. This summer camp will be held from June 1 to June 20, running daily from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
The summer camp was inaugurated by educationist and Director of Paragon School, Mr. M.B.S. Shergill. The camp is being organized in collaboration with Paragon Senior Secondary School, Sector-69, Mohali.
The summer camp will be directed by renowned playwright and theatre director Sanjeevan Singh. Gurwinder Singh Baidwan, the camp's Co-Director, stated that during the training camp, participants would receive both practical and theoretical instruction in various disciplines of theatre arts.
He further explained that during the camp, preparations would be undertaken to stage the play ‘Sardar’—written by Sanjeevan Singh—which depicts lesser-known facets of the life of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and highlights his immense sacrifices for the country's independence. Through the performance of this play, participants will learn the nuances of acting and theatre.
Additionally, participants will receive training in—and an introduction to—various aspects of theatre, including the art of acting, dialogue delivery, costume design, set decoration, makeup and prosthetics, body movement, stage management, prop usage, lighting techniques, and wardrobe selection.
The organizers stated that the objective of this summer camp is to cultivate an interest in theatre among the youth and students, to hone their creative talents, and to connect them with India's rich cultural heritage.
