Hoshiarpur:- Dedicated to the warm memory of Baba Ji Do Guttan Wale, the 12th Gold Cup Wrestling Dangal was organized like every year from 31st January to 1st February at Dera Baba Do Guttan Wale village Bhulewal Gujran (Mahilpur). The inauguration ceremony of the wrestling dangal was performed by the chief servant Baba Madan Lal by cutting the ribbon with his Kar Kamals.
Giving more information about the wrestling dangal, the organizers Baljit Singh Bilan (Raipur Dabba), wrestler Harjit Singh (Mahabharat Kesari, Raipur Dabba) besides the director of this dangal and former national wrestling coach PR Sondhi said that in the 85+ weight category, Rustom-e-Hind Gold Cup wrestler Vicky Mirchpur won by defeating Pushpinder Alamgir Navy. In the 85 kg weight category, Sachin Mor Mirchpur defeated Karanvir Phagwara.
In the 70 kg weight category, wrestler Mohit Haryana defeated Anuj Mirchipur. Similarly, in the girls' 60+ kg weight category, Mansi Mirchipur defeated Garima Mirchipur to win the Rustom-e-Hind Gold Cup. In the 60 kg weight category, Sitara-e-Hind competition, Aarti Rohtak defeated Sumanpreet Jalandhar. The Punjab Bal Kesari title was won by Uday Pratap Bilan Canada by defeating Gurikam Patiala.
In the girls' Punjab Bal Kesari competition, Kanak Jalandhar defeated Rajveer Jalandhar. The wrestlers who won the title were awarded cash prizes, tags and Gurj. Sant Baba Amrik Singh Mannahana, who specially arrived on the occasion, appreciated this effort of the organizers.
During the event, apart from Sant Baba Amrik Singh, Salwinder Singh Chinda Patti Rustam-e-Punjab Mananahana, Sanjay Daya Arjun Awardee, Ravinder Nath National Games Lahore Champion 1985, Budh Singh Bhangu Wrestler, Silver Medal First Asian Championship 1979, Gurmukh Singh Wrestler Bronze Medal Asian Games 1986, Jagjit Singh Bhola Wrestler Bharat Kesari Mananahana Asian Championship Medal 1999 Tehran, Wrestler Satish Kumar DSP Sitara-e-Hind Mananahana were specially honored.
Former Olympic coach PR Saundhi said that the NRI wrestlers who come from outside and get wrestling organized will be honored every year by the NRI Punjab Sports Welfare Association. Under this series, Mahabharat Kesari wrestler Harjit Singh Bilan Canada was honored today.
