Mohali- A memorandum was personally submitted by the Joint Action Committee to Giani Kuldeep Singh Ji, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar. This memorandum detailed that the government and the Municipal Corporation want to build processing plants and garbage grounds in Mohali, Chaparchiri and Sector-74 Mohali.
The memorandum was presented by Mr. Avtar Singh (General Secretary) of the Joint Action Committee. On this occasion, the Jathedar Sahib talked to the concerned MLA Kulwant Singh Ji and asked to remove all the garbage from the dumping ground of Sector-74 Mohali, on which MLA Kulwant Singh Ji assured that this work would be done.
The Jathedar Sahib gave clear orders that this work should be completed within a month and after a month he himself would visit the site. Along with this, he also ordered the relevant departments to write a letter about this.
Apart from this, Jathedar Sahib kept all the case files and documents with him which the Joint Action Committee had registered in the High Court. He assured that — “We are with you and will not allow any such work to be done on the land of martyrs, no kind of garbage will be allowed to be thrown here.”
Sardar Amandeep Singh Slach, Media Advisor of the Joint Action Committee, said that from a legal point of view, this place is completely wrong for throwing garbage, because DPS School, residential area, commercial area, historical Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji (Chaparchiri) and Fateh Burj are located near it.
Therefore, throwing garbage here is not only wrong from a social and religious point of view, but also legally wrong. This is the reason why this case has already been won by the Joint Action Committee before the High Court.
The Jathedar Sahib also clarified that in future, no kind of garbage will be allowed to be dumped near heritage monuments and historical places.
