Amazon India Strengthens Infrastructure in Punjab Ahead of Festive Season, Observing Strong Growth in the Region

Chandigarh, September 1, 2025:- Ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF), Amazon India has made comprehensive preparations to meet customer demands in high-growth categories such as home, kitchen, and outdoor products, smartphones, electronics, fashion, grocery, and more.

Strengthening its infrastructure in Punjab, Amazon India has launched a new fulfillment center in Rajpura, which has expanded its operations network and enabled local sellers to deliver products to customers more quickly. Additionally, this initiative will create hundreds of new job opportunities in the region. Over 46,000 sellers in Punjab are already selling their products in categories such as sports, apparel, beauty, and kitchen on the online marketplace.
During this festive season, customers in Chandigarh are showing a particular preference for premium products across all categories. Notably, the home, kitchen, and outdoor categories on Amazon.in have recorded the highest growth rates in Chandigarh and Punjab, indicating that customers are upgrading their homes to be more comfortable and stylish. 
These categories have seen strong double-digit growth in both regions, alongside a 20% increase in new customers across the state, signaling robust festive momentum.
In Punjab, customers are adopting smarter, healthier, and more sustainable lifestyles by upgrading their homes with bedroom, outdoor, and dining furniture, as well as appliances that enhance daily comfort. Chandigarh has emerged as a key growth hub, with significant demand surges for air purifiers (45% year-on-year growth), dehumidifiers (105% year-on-year growth), and solar solutions (30% year-on-year growth). 
The city has also witnessed strong momentum in fitness and mobility, with treadmills (70% year-on-year growth) and weight training equipment (35% year-on-year growth) gaining popularity, while two-wheeler vehicle sales across the state have increased by 30% year-on-year, led by brands like Chetak, Vida, Ola, Bajaj, and Hero. 
Buyers in Chandigarh have contributed to a 70% year-on-year growth in home décor and home improvement categories, including lighting fixtures, kitchen linens, laundry and bath organization products, and waste and recycling products. Furniture remains a customer favorite, with strong demand for bedroom furniture (50% year-on-year), outdoor furniture (30% year-on-year), dining furniture (20% year-on-year), and sideboards and cabinets (20% year-on-year).

To meet the rising demand during the upcoming festive season, Amazon has announced a significant expansion of its operations network with the launch of 12 new fulfillment centers (FCs) and six new sort centers (SCs) across India. 
As part of this expansion, Amazon has launched one new FC in Punjab—Rajpura—which supports sellers in delivering to customers faster and creates hundreds of local job opportunities. In Punjab, Amazon has a robust fulfillment and logistics network, including 45 delivery stations, enabling fast and reliable deliveries for customers across the state.
Customers can also enjoy additional benefits through Amazon Pay and Prime, with Prime members receiving fast delivery, exclusive savings, and entertainment benefits, while Amazon Pay enables secure, seamless, and rewarding transactions for festive shopping.
 Customers can choose from various Prime plans: ?1,499 for annual Prime (full benefits), ?799 for Prime Lite (full shopping, limited video), or ?399 for Prime Shopping Edition (shopping benefits only).
