Patiala, October 3: Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr. Jagpal Inder Singh, special health camps are being organized in all Ayushman Arogya centers under Patiala district keeping in mind the International Day of Older Persons.
Giving information on this occasion, the Civil Surgeon Patiala said that the health of the elderly is being checked during the camps. In which their blood pressure and blood sugar are mainly being checked. On this occasion, the Civil Surgeon said that the main purpose of celebrating such a day is to make the elderly aware about their health so that they can lead a healthy life by exercising and eating a balanced diet in their daily lifestyle.
He said that the elderly are dedicated to our happiness by giving up their selfishness. They are an integral part of our lives and a valuable heritage of the society. The elderly have experience in different fields from which we need to take guidance. He further said that in old age, the elderly have to face various diseases. Sometimes they even have difficulty in walking, so it is the duty of the younger generation to take special care of their health. At this age, they should not be left alone and their health should be maintained.
The government is taking many steps for the good health of the elderly, in which a separate queue has been created for senior citizens in the OPD to get prescriptions and medicines. Beds have also been reserved for the treatment of the elderly in hospitals. The Civil Surgeon said that regular health check-up of the elderly is very important so that diseases that come with age can be identified and they can be treated appropriately while they have time.
In special camps to be organized for the elderly this month, they are being given information about emergency services, including 108 number ambulance and 104 medical helpline services. Along with this, the department has also launched the “Tele Manas” app for the mental health of the elderly. Through which any person can get free counseling by calling 14416.

According to the orders of the High Court, the family of the deceased girl of Carmel Convent School will get Rs 1 crore and the girl whose arm was amputated will get Rs 50 lakh.

Patiala;- A student died and a girl's arm was amputated at Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh in 2022 due to a tree falling. The school management and the Chandigarh Administration had announced an assistance of Rs 20 lakh to the family of the deceased girl and Rs 10 lakh to the girl whose arm was amputated.
But the parents of the children appealed to the Punjab Haryana High Court that their children suffered due to the school's mistake. Now the Punjab Haryana High Court has ordered the school management and administration to pay Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased child and Rs 50 lakh to the other child. The High Court judge said that the negligence of the school management and administration is due to the safety, protection and help of the children, because the accident took place at the school.
Similarly, on 23 December 1995, due to a sudden fire at the DAV School in Dabwali during the annual function, 426 students, teachers and citizens died due to smoke inhalation, which was considered the negligence of the school, and the court ordered a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of each deceased.
Similarly, due to a fire in the nursery at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, senior doctors and management were held responsible for the death of five children, and the doctors and nurses had to go to jail and lose their jobs and pensions as per the rules and laws. Because the judges said that the responsibility of doctors is not only to treat but also to protect and help the patients.
In 2012, the Supreme Court and the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the formation of student safety committees in schools under the Safe School Vehicle Policy for the safety, protection and assistance of students, and the committee members should meet every month, inspect the school and record the action in the register. Under this policy, students, teachers and shopkeepers in the area should be trained twice a year by subject experts on first aid, fire safety, traffic rules and laws and mock drills should be conducted once a year.
Under the Right to Education Act 2009, orders have also been given to the management and principals to make appropriate arrangements for the safety, protection, assistance, first aid and fire safety of students in schools.
Even today, no training exercises are conducted in schools for the safety, protection and assistance of students and teachers. 90% of government schools do not have fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, nor are trainings conducted for the safety and help of students and teachers.
Private and recognized schools have fire extinguishers, but there is no provision to provide first aid to students during emergencies. Students, teachers, nearby people, shopkeepers, committee members are not trained or practiced on the proper use of cylinders and first aid boxes. Whereas the Supreme Court and governments have ordered to make preparations and make suitable arrangements on the basis of priority for the safety of students.
According to the Safe School Vehicle Policy and the Right to Education Act, affidavits should be taken from the heads of schools about the arrangements and trainings made for the safety and help of students and teachers. The officials of the education department should also take information about the work done for the safety and help of children during the meetings of the heads of schools from time to time.
Because they are given jobs only for the safety of children.
Whereas in any accident, the district administration, education department, fire brigade, ambulances and police personnel reach the places of incidents after receiving information, after 20/30 minutes and in villages after 50/60 minutes, whereas in fires, gases, electricity, petroleum incidents, buildings, trees, vehicles falling, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, head, brain, stomach and chest internal injuries, poisoning, fainting, shock, sugar blood pressure drop, excessive bleeding, the victims die within a few minutes. In such situations, only trained teachers, students and nearby people or shopkeepers have reached for immediate help.
In this regard, the district administration, education department, school principals, teachers and school management committee members have become responsible that the safety, rescue and help of children should be done on a priority basis as per the humanitarian and rules and laws.
Because in the courts, decisions are made according to the ages, salaries, rules and laws of those who died or were injured. Cases are also filed against school principals by parents. Due to which many institutions have also been closed.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated its 100th foundation day.

Kharar: On Vijayadashami, the festival of victory of Dharma over Adharma, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated its 100th foundation day. On this day in 1925, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar founded the RSS in Nagpur with a group of children, and today, the organization has become the world's largest non-governmental organization.
Celebrations were held in various parts of the country to mark this occasion. During the ceremony held at Gilco Gate, Chandigarh Road, Kharar, the chairman of the ceremony, the RSS official, the chief guest, Colonel Sukhwinder Pal Singh, founder of Indus Public School, Kharar, and the keynote speaker, Jagram Ji, the organization minister of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, performed the ritualistic worship of weapons. Prominent people from the area, brothers and sisters, and fellow volunteers were present at the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, the keynote speaker, Mr. Jagram, stated that India's overall development can only be achieved through self-awareness, environmental protection, civic duty, harmony, and an ideal family system. He said that for the development and progress of any nation, it is essential for its citizens to possess strong character and patriotic qualities. Sometimes, without character, even education and knowledge can prove fatal. He stated that the Sangh is working towards the nation's ultimate glory by adopting a methodology for nation-building through character-building.
Remembering the upcoming 350th martyrdom day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Sangh official Jagram said that Guruji sacrificed his life to give the message of protecting human rights and human values. He conveyed that every religion in the world is respectable and no one has the right to oppress others on the basis of religion or force anyone to change their religion. He also conveyed that even if one has to sacrifice one's life to protect one's religion, one should not back down.
Referring to the five transformations advocated by the Sangh, he said that we can uplift our country by following five points: self-awareness, environmental protection, civic duty, harmony, and an ideal family system. The Sangh believes that social harmony is an essential prerequisite for a strong, cultured, and progressive nation in every field. No nation divided on the basis of caste, religion, lineage, and gender can achieve the standards of development at the level of national unity, integrity, and internal security.
The Sangh considers the family to be the foundation of Indian culture, values, ideals, and traditions. Traditional family values ??are eroding due to the influence of Western culture and the pressures of modern lifestyles. Through family enlightenment, we can make our families aware of and advance Indian culture, traditions, and values. He stated that environmental protection is a major global challenge in the contemporary landscape, and India is also facing environmental problems.
Indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and pollution have caused significant environmental damage, negatively impacting human life and future. Therefore, an environmentally friendly lifestyle is essential for our nation's development. The Sangh official stated that economic self-reliance is essential for national development. Consumerist culture and excessive dependence on imports are extremely detrimental to the Indian economy and culture.
Encouraging Indians to adopt and upgrade local businesses using Indian products and becoming self-reliant is an integral part of a self-reliant lifestyle. It is essential to instigate campaigns promoting the use of indigenous products and to strive to revive traditional skills and industries.
Speaking about civic duties, he said that for a knowledgeable and progressive democratic nation, it is essential for its citizens to be aware and responsible of their fundamental duties. Only by fulfilling these duties can a healthy and civil society be built.
Responsibility towards civic duty clearly implies that citizens should be aware of their duties and fulfill them honestly. These civic duties include voting, paying taxes, protecting public property, obeying the law, and actively participating in social work. He said that the Sangh is reaching out to society with programs based on these five changes.
On this occasion, the chief guest of the ceremony, Colonel Sukhwinder Pal Singh, said that due to its good deeds and positive work methodology, the Sangh has become synonymous with patriotism, mutual brotherhood, and service in its 100 years of existence. He said that whenever the country faces a crisis, Sangh volunteers step forward to fulfill their national responsibilities. On this occasion, Mohali District Karyavah Gurudev, Kharar City Sangh Chalak Vijay Verma ji, and approximately 500 volunteers participated in the program.
