Kharar: On Vijayadashami, the festival of victory of Dharma over Adharma, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated its 100th foundation day. On this day in 1925, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar founded the RSS in Nagpur with a group of children, and today, the organization has become the world's largest non-governmental organization.
Celebrations were held in various parts of the country to mark this occasion. During the ceremony held at Gilco Gate, Chandigarh Road, Kharar, the chairman of the ceremony, the RSS official, the chief guest, Colonel Sukhwinder Pal Singh, founder of Indus Public School, Kharar, and the keynote speaker, Jagram Ji, the organization minister of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, performed the ritualistic worship of weapons. Prominent people from the area, brothers and sisters, and fellow volunteers were present at the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, the keynote speaker, Mr. Jagram, stated that India's overall development can only be achieved through self-awareness, environmental protection, civic duty, harmony, and an ideal family system. He said that for the development and progress of any nation, it is essential for its citizens to possess strong character and patriotic qualities. Sometimes, without character, even education and knowledge can prove fatal. He stated that the Sangh is working towards the nation's ultimate glory by adopting a methodology for nation-building through character-building.
Remembering the upcoming 350th martyrdom day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Sangh official Jagram said that Guruji sacrificed his life to give the message of protecting human rights and human values. He conveyed that every religion in the world is respectable and no one has the right to oppress others on the basis of religion or force anyone to change their religion. He also conveyed that even if one has to sacrifice one's life to protect one's religion, one should not back down.
Referring to the five transformations advocated by the Sangh, he said that we can uplift our country by following five points: self-awareness, environmental protection, civic duty, harmony, and an ideal family system. The Sangh believes that social harmony is an essential prerequisite for a strong, cultured, and progressive nation in every field. No nation divided on the basis of caste, religion, lineage, and gender can achieve the standards of development at the level of national unity, integrity, and internal security.
The Sangh considers the family to be the foundation of Indian culture, values, ideals, and traditions. Traditional family values ??are eroding due to the influence of Western culture and the pressures of modern lifestyles. Through family enlightenment, we can make our families aware of and advance Indian culture, traditions, and values. He stated that environmental protection is a major global challenge in the contemporary landscape, and India is also facing environmental problems.
Indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and pollution have caused significant environmental damage, negatively impacting human life and future. Therefore, an environmentally friendly lifestyle is essential for our nation's development. The Sangh official stated that economic self-reliance is essential for national development. Consumerist culture and excessive dependence on imports are extremely detrimental to the Indian economy and culture.
Encouraging Indians to adopt and upgrade local businesses using Indian products and becoming self-reliant is an integral part of a self-reliant lifestyle. It is essential to instigate campaigns promoting the use of indigenous products and to strive to revive traditional skills and industries.
Speaking about civic duties, he said that for a knowledgeable and progressive democratic nation, it is essential for its citizens to be aware and responsible of their fundamental duties. Only by fulfilling these duties can a healthy and civil society be built.
Responsibility towards civic duty clearly implies that citizens should be aware of their duties and fulfill them honestly. These civic duties include voting, paying taxes, protecting public property, obeying the law, and actively participating in social work. He said that the Sangh is reaching out to society with programs based on these five changes.
On this occasion, the chief guest of the ceremony, Colonel Sukhwinder Pal Singh, said that due to its good deeds and positive work methodology, the Sangh has become synonymous with patriotism, mutual brotherhood, and service in its 100 years of existence. He said that whenever the country faces a crisis, Sangh volunteers step forward to fulfill their national responsibilities. On this occasion, Mohali District Karyavah Gurudev, Kharar City Sangh Chalak Vijay Verma ji, and approximately 500 volunteers participated in the program.
