Chandigarh- Shahpur colony residents were apprehensive that their colony could also be demolished under the 'Slum Free Chandigarh' campaign. They met Manish Tiwari regarding this concern. Manish Tiwari took the colony residents' matter seriously and advised them to meet the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chandigarh.
The colony residents were made to meet DC sahab, where the entire matter of the colony was put forth. It was told that the biometric survey of the colony has been done, in which the documents of 136 people were found to be complete and valid. Apart from this, there were discrepancies in the counting and numbering of some houses, and irregularities in the photos and numbers of houses in the government records, on which objections were raised.
DC sahab took immediate action on this and got the survey done again, in which a total of 332 slums were identified. Out of these, 136 people have been found eligible and most of the objections of the remaining have been resolved. Now these eligible people are likely to be allotted houses soon.
This process was possible only due to the intervention and guidance of Honorable MP Manish Tiwari. The colony residents met Mr. Manish Tiwari today under the leadership of Kamlesh Banarasi Das ji and thanked him heartily. Ram Raj Verma and Rajesh Giri and the colony residents have also been assured that they will not be removed from there until they get alternative houses.
