
Traffic Police Conducts Special Seminar for School Students on Drug Awareness and Traffic Rules
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 23: Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Harmanpreet Singh Hans and Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Navneet Singh Mahl, DSP Traffic Karnail Singh today conducted an awareness session at Government Senior Secondary School, Gobindgarh, to educate students about avoiding drug use and adhering to traffic rules.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 23: Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Harmanpreet Singh Hans and Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Navneet Singh Mahl, DSP Traffic Karnail Singh today conducted an awareness session at Government Senior Secondary School, Gobindgarh, to educate students about avoiding drug use and adhering to traffic rules.
During the seminar, students were informed about the harmful effects of drugs, the importance of traffic rules, and the need to develop an interest in sports. They were cautioned that certain negative elements might push them toward drug addiction, and therefore, it is essential to stay vigilant against such individuals.
Information about important provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act was also shared. For instance, under Section 183, overspeeding results in a fine of ?2,000 for the first offense and ?4,000 for the second offense, along with a 3-month suspension of the driving license.
Using a mobile phone while driving, under Section 184, incurs a fine of ?5,000 for the first offense and ?10,000 for the second offense, along with the possibility of imprisonment for up to 6 months. Additionally, the driving license may be suspended for 3 months.
Furthermore, students were introduced to the Good Samaritan Scheme. It was explained that if a person assists an individual injured in a road accident, they are rewarded with ?2,000 under the government’s “Farishte Scheme.”
The school principal and staff thanked DSP Traffic and described such seminars as highly beneficial for students.
