Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 23: Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matratva Abhiyan (PMSMA) Day was celebrated today in various government health institutions of the district, under which free check-ups of pregnant women were conducted by gynecologists and information was given to them regarding safe delivery. The main objective of this program is to check pregnant women in the second and third trimester and to identify high-risk pregnant women and provide them with proper treatment.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Tamanna Singhal said that under this program, free check-ups of pregnant women, especially high-risk pregnant women, are conducted on the 9th and 23rd of every month. The health officer appealed to the general public, especially pregnant women, to visit government health institutions and take maximum advantage of the free facilities being provided by the health department. He said that for the safety of pregnant women, an uneducated person should never give birth, because doing so can endanger the lives of both the woman and the child.
It is worth mentioning that four ANC checkups are mandatory for every pregnant woman, which are done absolutely free in government health institutions. The health officer said that the health department is smoothly implementing state and central health schemes and programs for the well-being of the people and is committed to providing better maternal and child health services to the people.
