The loss of life and property of flood victims is immense, yet the spirit is high: Talwinder Heer.

Hoshiarpur- The central and state governments are rubbing salt on the wounds of the flood victims by making empty declarations and insulting each other, but at the ground level, neither the central nor the state government has provided even a single penny of help to the victims. These words were expressed by Talwinder Singh Heer, District Publicity Secretary of Bhaqi Ekta Ugrahan, Nangal Khiladri, who had come to understand the suffering and troubles of the flood

Hoshiarpur- The central and state governments are rubbing salt on the wounds of the flood victims by making empty declarations and insulting each other, but at the ground level, neither the central nor the state government has provided even a single penny of help to the victims. These words were expressed by Talwinder Singh Heer, District Publicity Secretary of Bhaqi Ekta Ugrahan, Nangal Khiladri, who had come to understand the suffering and troubles of the flood victims of four villages of Mehtabpur, Haled Janardan, Kaulian, Motla near Mukerian on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh and assured them of all possible help from their union to reduce them.
On reaching village Mehtabpur, Sabbi met Subhash Singh, son of Khazan Singh, who had been repeatedly displaced and resettled due to floods. He narrated his heartbreaking story and said that all his cattle had died due to the floods in 2023 and he too was surrounded by the raging river for 15 hours and the villagers had saved his life by arranging a boat with their efforts. Life had not yet come back to normal and the floods devastated him again, but this time his cattle were saved by the Satnam contractor of the village who gave them a safe place.
Such is the story of Parshottam Pappu Mehtabpur, whose land and residence, being near Dhussi, became ruined and uninhabitable due to the floods. The members of the union, following the orders of their state committee, provided the victims with food rations for about two months, blankets, unwashed clothes as first aid and assured them of making every possible effort to solve their every problem.
Food rations were distributed in the form of kits to the needy flood-affected families of the four villages, which included all the necessary items for daily use in the kitchen. The largest contribution in purchasing them was made by the Customs and Excise Tax Pensioners Welfare Association, Sant Darshan Singh Ji and the families of late Lambardar Bhagat Singh and Majhail Singh. On this occasion, Satish Kumar Mehtabpur, Lambardar Bahadur Singh Mehtabpur, young Risi Ranjan, Surinder Pal Sarpanch Haled Janardan, Binder Singh, Balwinder Singh Sarpanch Motla gave full support in providing assistance to the needy and requested the governments to convey the news of their excessive losses to the ears of the government.
On this occasion, a central minister was also on a tour of these villages, with which a convoy of more than twenty vehicles, including an ambulance and a fire brigade, was running, which clearly showed that the value of life is only for these ministers and the rich, the governments do not care about the life and death of poor workers, but they are busy baking political bread.
Sitting in the villages with the biggest convoys, they patronize the vagrants, they do not have time to meet the victims and listen to their suffering. Talwinder Singh Heer said that if the governments continue with this irresponsible attitude, then the Ugrahan Union will continue its efforts for the rehabilitation of its flood-affected brothers and a big program will be announced to open the ears of the governments.
On this occasion, a large number of area residents including Mr. Prem Kumar Ji Chandigarh, Santokh Singh Dasuha, Hardeep Singh Chela, Mohan Singh Bal, Gurcharan Singh Chahal, Kuldeep Singh Sidhu, Jaswinder Banga, Jatinder Singh Jindu, Sukhwinder Singh, Resham Singh Nimma Chandeli, Bobby Singhpur were present.
