Hoshiarpur- An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain with the aim of making the 'Way Against Drugs' campaign launched against drug abuse in the district more effective. This meeting was held at James Cambridge International School, in which SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik was also specially present.

Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that the district level function related to 'Gram Raksha Samiti - Pinda De Pehredaar' will be held on May 2 at James Cambridge International School. Through this program, the Gram Raksha Samitis formed in the district will be made aware of their duties and responsibilities.
He said that the role of these committees is very important in making the villages drug free and hence it is necessary to provide them proper training and guidance. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner clearly explained the roles of all the concerned departments and directed them to work in coordination with each other to ensure the success of the program.
He said that every department will have to fulfill its responsibility seriously so that the real objective of this campaign i.e. establishment of a drug-free society can be realized. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that the police department is also making full preparations to make the Pinda De Pehredaar program a success.
He said that to increase activities in the villages, committee members will be trained to give information related to drug smuggling, keep an eye on suspicious activities and report on time. Assistant Commissioner Oshi Mandal, SP Major Singh, SDM Hoshiarpur Sanjeev Kumar, SDM Tanda Parampreet Singh, DSP Manpreet Shimar and other officers were also present on this occasion.
