Patna: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has hit out at the BJP, accusing it of 'vote theft' and communal polarisation. Kharge asserted that the Bihar assembly elections will mark the end of Modi government's 'corrupt rule'. In his opening remarks at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting here, Kharge also made a clear reference to US President Donald Trump's recent statements and actions and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kharge said, "Our problems at the international level are the result of the diplomatic failure of Narendra Modi and his government. The friends whom the Prime Minister is proud to call 'my friends' are putting India in many troubles today.''
The Congress President said, ''Today, when our voter list is being officially tampered with, it is necessary that we hold our expanded CWC meeting in Bihar, the mother of democracy, and reiterate our commitment to protect the democracy and the Constitution of this country.''
Kharge stressed that the foundation of democracy is free and transparent elections. He said that today serious questions are being raised about the impartiality and transparency of the Election Commission. Kharge said that instead of answering questions about the revelations from various states, the Election Commission is demanding an affidavit from us. Kharge, referring to the SIR in Bihar, said that after the example of Bihar, now a conspiracy is being hatched across the country to remove the votes of lakhs of people.
