
Owners of all printing presses to strictly follow the instructions of the Election Commission regarding the printing of election materials - District Election Officer
Nawanshahr - In view of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has instructed all the printing press owners and representatives of the district that during the election campaign, any kind of propaganda material, pamphlets or advertisements. At the time of printing, the name and full address of the printer and publisher must be printed on it.
Nawanshahr - In view of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has instructed all the printing press owners and representatives of the district that during the election campaign, any kind of propaganda material, pamphlets or advertisements. At the time of printing, the name and full address of the printer and publisher must be printed on it.
He has also instructed that before printing any campaign material, a declaration should be taken that by whom and in what number these election materials are being printed. And the information along with the cost of printed campaign material will have to be given to the District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate. He said that any printing press that will print promotional materials will also have to print the name and registration number of its press on banners, flex, posters, pamphlets, booklets. He also said that no objectionable material against caste, religion etc. will be printed by the printing press.
The District Election Officer said that before printing, a declaration in Appendix-A should be taken from the publisher doing the printing, which is well known to the publisher and attested by 2 persons. 2 copies of this declaration should be taken. He said that the copies of the printed material along with this declaration signed by the printer and the details of expenses incurred on printing, which should be in Appendix-B, should be sent to the Election Appendix Monitoring Team. He said that this complete information must come within three days of printing.
He told the printing press owners/representatives that the instructions of the Election Commission will be violated by the owner of the printing press. Section 127(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 punishable with imprisonment for 6 months and with fine up to Rs.2000 or with both. The license of the printer concerned may also be cancelled. He also told all printing press owners to strictly follow the above instructions during the election process.
