BIRTH DEFECTS SEMINAR was organised at PGIMER, Chandigarh

The month of March is celebrated as Birth Defect Awareness Month, and 3rd March is celebrated as World Birth Defect every Year. According to WHO, about 8 million children are born with a Birth Defect in the World annually.

A cultural cum educational program was conducted on March 23rd in PGIMER, Chandigarh, in APC Auditorium under Genetic Metabolic Unit. Faculty from other departments, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Nursing College (NINE), and a few NGOs participated and contributed to interactive discussions.
Awareness regarding Birth Defects and Rare Disorders can help in targeting preventive program and enabling better outcomes for patients with Birth Defects. Chief guest Ms. Anuja Sharma, Principal, DAV School, graced the occasion and spoke words full of motivation and encouragement for patients and families. Patients with Down syndrome also enriched the program with their creative performance. Effective implementation of rare disease policy is possible by involvement of all stakeholders.
