Hoshiarpur- An important meeting was held at the district level under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Census 2026-27. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Deputy ESA Sunita Pol and ARO Pavneet Kaur along with concerned officials were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparations at the district level in the context of the recent instructions issued by Chief Secretary Punjab KAP Sinha. The Deputy Commissioner clarified that it is mandatory to finalize the administrative boundaries of cities and villages by December 31, 2025. In this regard, the responsibility of urban constituencies to ADCs and rural constituencies to SDMs has been given to re-examine the reports received.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the census work is a nationally important responsibility, therefore all the concerned officials should fulfill their responsibility in a time-bound manner. He also directed to make the functioning of the census cell established at the district level more active so that all the activities can be completed on time as per the prescribed calendar.
