Karnal, September 24: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the closing ceremony of the 74th All India Police Wrestling Competition at Madhuban Police Academy on Wednesday as the chief guest. On this occasion, he stated that it is a matter of pride that this competition was held during the auspicious occasion of Sharad Navratri. There is a deep connection between sports and police forces. Sports not only promote good health but also teach teamwork, mutual cooperation, and discipline. He congratulated all participants and winning athletes.

On this occasion, he stated that it is a matter of pride that this competition was held during the auspicious occasion of Sharad Navratri. There is a deep connection between sports and police forces. Sports not only promote good health but also teach teamwork, mutual cooperation, and discipline. He congratulated all participants and winning athletes.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said it is a matter of great joy that 1,474 athletes from 34 teams showcased their prowess in this competition held on the sports powerhouse land of Haryana. This competition provided players with an opportunity to display their skills and capabilities. It will also help strengthen coordination among police forces. He said, “A good athlete is also a good soldier.” Athletes who play with discipline, teamwork, and mutual cooperation perform their duties as soldiers with greater efficiency and skill. Sports and policing have become complementary to each other. This will also prove effective in maintaining the fitness of police personnel.

Goal to Make India a Sports Superpower in 2036 Olympics The Chief Minister said that recognizing the importance of fitness, the Prime Minister has stated, “The one who is fit is a hit in every field.” To realize this, the Fit India campaign was launched in 2019. Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal to establish India as a sports superpower in the 2036 Olympics and has expressed a desire to host these games in India.

Haryana Police Has Produced Many Talented Athletes The Chief Minister said that Haryana Police personnel have not only excelled in their security duties but have also given the country many talented athletes. These athletes have enhanced the nation’s pride and glory. Haryana Police has played a commendable role in creating an enthusiastic sports environment in the state. Athletes from Haryana Police have won prestigious awards like Padma Shri, Khel Ratna, Major Dhyan Chand, Arjuna, and Dronacharya, bringing glory to the state. Wrestling is a prominent sport in Haryana, and the state’s robust wrestlers perform with full determination and excellence.

Vision Developed for Sports Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that about 11 years ago, the current government developed a vision for sports. Its objective is to connect every child and youth with sports and provide them opportunities, and to create sports grounds in every village. The goal of this vision is to make Haryana the sports capital of India. The government has modernized sports infrastructure. In 2015, the Haryana Sports and Physical Fitness Policy was implemented. This policy has increased the inclination of youth towards sports, and they are performing exceptionally at national and international levels. The government also launched the Sports Nursery Scheme. Currently, 1,489 sports nurseries are operational in the state, training 37,225 athletes. The Haryana Outstanding Sportspersons Service Rules 2021 were introduced, under which 550 new posts were created, and 224 athletes were given government jobs. Reservations for direct recruitment in Grade 1 to 4 posts were provided for athletes. Sports equipment was provided to 15,634 athletes. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that recruitment under the sports quota in Haryana Police would soon take place. He honored the winning athletes.

“Experience Will Lead to Greater Heights in the Future”: DGP On this occasion, Haryana Police Director General Shatrujeet Kapoor congratulated the medal-winning athletes and said they would continue this legacy in the future. The experience gained from Haryana’s soil will help them reach greater heights. He said that these games not only provided athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills and capabilities but also allowed them to learn about each other’s lifestyles, cuisines, and languages. This strengthens national unity. Haryana Police has successfully organized 19 All India Sports Competitions so far.

CISF Wins 40 Medals The DGP informed that in the All India Police Wrestling Competitions, CISF athletes won 13 gold, 9 silver, and 18 bronze medals (total 40). Uttar Pradesh Police athletes won 12 gold, 15 silver, and 19 bronze medals, while ITBP athletes secured 9 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Haryana’s athletes are also making India proud on the international stage. The state government is encouraging athletes at every level. On this occasion, Vidhu Shekhar, IPS, representative of the All India Police Sports Control Board, also shared his thoughts.

During the closing ceremony, in the women’s 53 kg freestyle bout held in the presence of the Chief Minister, CISF’s Rajni won the gold medal by securing the first position. Uttar Pradesh Police’s Hemlata won the silver medal. Similarly, in the men’s 125 kg freestyle bout, Haryana’s Mausam Khatri won the gold medal, and Jammu & Kashmir’s Ishak Mohammad won the silver medal. In the women’s category, Priyansi and Nirmala won bronze medals, while in the men’s category, Mohit and Bharat Chaudhary won bronze medals.
On this occasion, local MLA Jagmohan Anand, Director of Haryana Police Academy Ashwinder Singh Chawla, IG Narwal, BJP District President Praveen Lather, and other dignitaries were present. Students of DAV Police Public School presented a Haryanvi dance performance.
