Reacting to the arrest of Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that S. I.T During the investigation,  found ample evidence that Sukhpal Khaira is involved in drug trafficking. So S. I.T has arrested him for further investigation.

AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang said that he said that the arrest of Sukhpal Khaira was not due to any political vendetta but S. I. T has been based on the evidence found against him during the investigation. He said that if we want to take political revenge, then our government has been in power for one and a half years in Punjab. He could have been arrested earlier.

He said that in 2022, the Supreme Court had given relief to Sukhpal Khaira, but the court had clearly written in its order that the Punjab Police can re-investigate the case. Based on the orders of the Supreme Court, the SIT of the Punjab Police has started a re-investigation of the matter. He said that during the Akali-BJP government in 2015, Manjit Singh and Gurdev Singh, who were accused of smuggling drugs across the border, are both very close to Sukhpal Khaira.

He said that at that time E. D had also registered a case of money laundering against Sukhpal Khaira and he also went to jail in this case.
