
International Yoga Day Brings Laurels for Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences
SAS Nagar, June 21: In a landmark achievement, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS Mohali), and CM di Yogshala, successfully set a new Asia Book of Records title for the largest yoga session by healthcare professionals on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025.
SAS Nagar, June 21: In a landmark achievement, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS Mohali), and CM di Yogshala, successfully set a new Asia Book of Records title for the largest yoga session by healthcare professionals on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025.
Divulging the details, Director Principal Dr Bhavneet Bharti said, "With an impressive 3,003 participants, including MBBS students, nursing students, doctors, paramedics, and healthcare professionals from across disciplines, AIMS Mohali celebrated this historic moment at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, SAS Nagar, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM on June 21, 2025."
She further said that the record-breaking event was strongly supported by CM di Yogshala, the flagship wellness initiative of the Government of Punjab, and actively backed by the Punjab Nursing Council and nursing colleges of the Tricity. Their joint effort made possible a synchronized yoga session under the national initiative ‘Yoga Sangam’ led by the Ministry of AYUSH, she added.
This year’s global theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," was reflected throughout the event, highlighting yoga’s role in promoting personal well-being while fostering harmony with the environment.
The achievement was officially certified by Dr. Sachin Khullar, esteemed adjudicator from Asia Book of Records, who presented the certificate and lauded AIMS Mohali’s commitment to wellness and leadership in public health advocacy.
“This record is a shining example of how healthcare institutions can drive a culture of well-being when guided by vision and collaboration,” remarked Dr. Sachin Khullar during the felicitation.
Mr. Amresh Kumar Jha and Mr. Kamlesh Mishra, Consultant Yoga Trainers from CM di Yogshala, added, “Yoga builds resilience and mental clarity—vital attributes for healthcare providers. We are proud to partner with AIMS Mohali in this endeavor.”
Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal, AIMS Mohali, while expressing thanks to the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Research, Kumar Rahul, Deputy Commissioner, Komal Mittal and all the Participants for their presence to this historic occasion, said, “This milestone goes beyond setting records—it signifies our dedication to holistic health, integrating wellness practices like yoga into medical education and healthcare delivery.

She said that AIMS Mohali will continue to pioneer the integration of yoga and wellness into its academic and clinical ecosystem, inspiring a culture where healthcare professionals not only treat illness but also embody the principles of preventive and promotive health—aligned with the global vision of “One Earth, One Health.”
