
Major police action in Hoshiarpur under Punjab government's 'Drugs Par War' campaign, drug smuggler arrested.
Hoshiarpur, June 11, 2025: Under the 'Drugs Par War' campaign being run by the Punjab Government against drugs, Hoshiarpur Police took major action against drug smugglers and anti-social elements as per the instructions of Mr. Sandeep Kumar Malik, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, SP (Investigation) and Mr. Major Singh, SP (PBI).
Hoshiarpur, June 11, 2025: Under the 'Drugs Par War' campaign being run by the Punjab Government against drugs, Hoshiarpur Police took major action against drug smugglers and anti-social elements as per the instructions of Mr. Sandeep Kumar Malik, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, SP (Investigation) and Mr. Major Singh, SP (PBI).
This action was taken under the supervision of Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division Garhshankar under the leadership of Inspector/SHO Jai Pal, Police Station Garhshankar. During this, drugs were recovered from three different areas under Garhshankar Police Station and cases were registered against the accused.
In first operation on 10th June 2025, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinder Singh and his team equipped with laptop, printer and investigation kit during patrolling and checking of vehicles on Bahad Rakba Bridge Canal near Shahpur arrested suspect Rakesh Kumar, son Nirmal Kumar, resident of Garhi, Police Station Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur.
During his search one lighter, one narcotic substance stained money and rolled up note of Rs.10 were recovered. Case No. 96, dated 10-06-2025 under Section 27-61-85 of NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Garhshankar and further action was initiated.
In second operation on the same day, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahinder Pal along with his team during patrolling on Bahad Rakba Bridge Canal, T-Point Rawalpindi arrested suspect Ravi alias Dhuff, son Amit Kumar, resident of Ward No. 3, Garhshankar.
During his search, 48 loose narcotic pills were recovered, which had no brand on them. Case No. 97, dated 10-06-2025 was registered against him under section 22-61-85 of NDPS Act at Police Station Garhshankar. Interrogation of accused Ravi alias Dhuff is going on and further action is being taken.
In the third action, Assistant Sub Inspector Satnam Singh, Outpost Incharge Samundar, along with his team, while patrolling at Reliance Pump, GT Road, Panama, arrested Kulveer Singh alias Kulveera, son of Bukhan Singh, resident of village Maula Wahidpur, Police Station Garhshankar, riding a motorcycle number PB-07-AJ-8795, brand Splendor, black color.
During his search, 12 loose narcotic injections, which had no label, and the said motorcycle were recovered. Case number 98, dated 10-06-2025 has been registered against him under section 22-61-85 NDPS Act in Gadhshankar police station. Interrogation of accused Kulveer Singh is going on. The criminal history of Kulveer Singh alias Kulveera has also come to light. The earlier cases registered against him include Case No. 105 dated June 18, 2008, under Section 15-61-85 NDPS Act, Case No. 180 dated November 5, 2019, under Section 498-A, Indian Penal Code, Case No. 178 dated September 4, 2007, under Section 15-61-85 NDPS Act, Case No. 45 dated April 5, 2016, under Section 379 IPC, Police Station Raho, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Case No. 185 dated October 22, 2017, under Section 379-B IPC, and Case No. 146 dated August 6, 2019, under Section 21-61-85 NDPS Act, Police Station Garhshankar. Apart from this, recently Assistant Sub-Inspector Koshal Chandra had registered case number 94 under section 21-61-85 NDPS Act on 7 June 2025 and arrested the accused Amrik Singh alias Mika son of Inder Singh and Paramjit Singh son of late Kulwinder Singh resident of Birampur police station Garhshankar.
During their search, 38 grams of heroin was recovered. The third accused involved in this case Harmesh Kumar alias Lala son Mahendra Pal resident of Birampur fled from the spot at that time. Harmesh Kumar was arrested on 10 June 2025 and taken on remand and interrogation is going on with him. Harmesh Kumar also has a criminal record, including case number 79 dated 19 June 2016 under section 22-61-85 NDPS Act at Sadar police station, case number 87 dated 26 April 2020 under section 302, 201, 120-B IPC, case number 151 dated 18 September 2020 under section 25-54-59 Arms Act at Bullowal police station, case number 255 dated 2 December 2021 under section 52-A Jail Act at City police station and case number 117 dated 28 May 2023 under section 22-61-85 NDPS Act at Mahilpur police station.
This action is part of the Punjab government's zero tolerance policy against drugs. Police officials clarified that such action will continue to deal strictly with drug smugglers and criminals. The police and administration are fully committed to eradicate the problem of drug addiction in the society. Local people also appreciated this action and supported this campaign of Punjab Government.
