Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 11: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, while attending the state level seminar organized by Bhagat Kabir Welfare Foundation at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran on the occasion of Bhagat Kabir ji's Prakash Utsav here today, said that Bhagat Kabir ji's couplets and teachings are very relevant to today's social conditions and human life.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 11: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, while attending the state level seminar organized by Bhagat Kabir Welfare Foundation at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran on the occasion of Bhagat Kabir ji's Prakash Utsav here today, said that Bhagat Kabir ji's couplets and teachings are very relevant to today's social conditions and human life.
He said that this great saint, born in Varanasi (Kashi) in Uttar Pradesh, though did not have bookish knowledge, he acquired knowledge based on experience from the company of great saints. This is the reason that even after hundreds of years, his teachings are equally effective among the common people, society and intellectuals.
He said that Bhagat Kabir ji was a major pillar of the Bhakti movement, which focused on love and devotion towards God. Kabir ji received spiritual guidance from gurus like Sant Ramanand and Sheikh Taqi, which shaped his unique philosophy.
He said that the time when Sant Kabir was born was the time of attacks, massacres and looting by foreign invaders in India. In such a difficult environment, Kabir Sahib himself used to go to spread the message of faith, love and harmony among the people.
He used to communicate directly with the people. At that time, it was very important to do so to awaken the people who were sleeping in the deep sleep of discrimination, casteism and untouchability, because only an awakened person can do good to the society, so he first awakened the society and then made them aware.
He said that Bhagat Kabir ji weaved a fine thread of social harmony to bring harmony in the divided society of that time. He beautifully colored it with the color of knowledge. He prepared a strong thread of unity and harmony and weaved the fabric of building a harmonious society.
He said that Bhagat Kabir ji always emphasized that humanity cannot be protected without sensitivity and compassion towards the weakest section of the society. Harmony cannot come in the society without helping the helpless people. Love towards all human beings is the true human religion.
Governor Kataria said that he considers himself very fortunate to be a part of the program organized by Bhagat Kabir Welfare Foundation (Regd.) in collaboration with Shri Hari Sharanam Seva Sansthan on the occasion of Bhagat Kabir Ji's birth anniversary today. He said that this seminar organized by the Foundation with great devotion and enthusiasm, rising above party spirit, will undoubtedly be known as a big achievement in the times to come.
During this seminar organized by Bhagat Kabir Welfare Foundation (Regd.) in collaboration with Shri Hari Sharanam Seva Sansthan in the auditorium of Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran Campus, under the leadership of Foundation's Founder General Secretary Pradeep Singh Happy and Institute's President Vishal Sharma, other speakers also shared their views on the life and teachings of Bhagat Kabir Ji.
Amritsar North MLA Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said that Bhagat Kabir Ji is known as a social scientist, the authenticity of Bhagat Kabir Ji's revolutionary thoughts still remains in complete obscurity.
Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Vice Chancellor of Central University Dharamshala, said that even in the medieval period, Bhagat Kabir Ji had clearly and fearlessly said in the presence of kings and emperors that words have meanings and the truth of life can be found only by searching for meanings. Bhagat Kabir Ji had given new hope to the people in the medieval period.
