Patiala: National Advisor of Bhartiya Valmiki Dharma Samaj Veer Prem Khoda has opened a front to stop the growing corruption in the Municipal Corporation. In a note issued to the press, Veer Prem Khoda said that he has come to know through RTI that for the last 10 years some sanitary inspectors in the Municipal Corporation have been doing duty at the same station against the government rules, who have never been transferred to other cities till date.
He has made a written demand to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Director Local Government regarding the transfer of these Municipal Corporation Inspectors. In which Prem Khoda said that the said sanitary inspectors have been serving on the same seat in the same city for 10 years.
While four different mayors have been in Patiala, many commissioners have changed and governments of different parties have also come to power. But despite this, the said sanitary inspector has been occupying his post in the same city for 10 years. Whereas as per rules, no employee can work at one post/one station for more than 3 years.
Due to which the city is clean, the said employee has been occupying his post in a corrupt manner for a long time and earning a lot of money. Today, he has become the owner of big properties, if an impartial investigation of these sanitary inspectors is conducted, then a big expose can happen. The health officer and sanitary inspector have an important responsibility regarding the cleanliness system of the city.
25 years ago, there were about 1500 sanitation workers in the Municipal Corporation, whereas today after 25 years, their number has come down to about 900, in which 450 are permanent and 450 are outsourced employees. The area of ??the city has increased twenty times. The Municipal Corporation has neither recruited new employees nor made the temporary sanitation workers permanent.
