Hoshiarpur- Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today led the Youth Club Leadership Program organized by Aam Aadmi Party at Garhshankar and motivated the youth to work in the interest of the nation. In his inspiring address, the Chief Minister called upon the youth to play a leading role in the formation of the country.
Addressing the young soldiers of Aam Aadmi Party who came from different districts of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the young generation is the real strength of the country.
Heroes like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Kartar Singh Sarabha sacrificed their lives for the country at a very young age.
He said that Bhagat Singh was only 23 years old and Kartar Singh Sarabha was only 19 years old but they still live in the hearts of every Indian. Because of their martyrdom, they will always remain 23 and 19 years old.
The Chief Minister said that Kartar Singh Sarabha's family had more than 300 acres of land at that time. If he wanted, he could have studied abroad and lived a luxurious life, but he chose patriotism and sacrificed everything. We still consider these martyrs as our role models. He said that at the age when today's youth demand motorcycles and cars from their parents, these martyrs demanded freedom from the British. Today we too will have to adopt their ideals.
Referring to Chandra Shekhar Azad's plan to throw a bomb in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said that initially Bhagat Singh was not involved in that plan but he himself added his name. This shows how deep the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice was within him. He said that if these warriors wanted, they could have lived a long life by compromising with the British, but they did not compromise for the service of the country. We have lived three times longer than them, now we have to leave fear and work for Punjab and the country.
Referring to Gurbani and Sufi literature, the Chief Minister also shared a work by Mohammad Mian Baksh with the youth. He said that God does not place the burden of responsibility on everyone, only those who have the strength to bear the burden get the responsibility.
The Chief Minister told the youth that today the burden of responsibility has been placed on your head, now you will have to work with full dedication. There will be obstacles on the way, people will also delay but we will always have to keep an eye on our goal. He said that Punjabis never return empty-handed. We have also stopped the likes of Sikandar and Aurangzeb. Our role models are Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh, who gave their heads but did not bow their heads. They were put in the walls, but did not back down from the path of religion.
Recalling his old days, the Chief Minister said, "Earlier, when I was an artist, I used to go to villages and take money, but today when I become the Chief Minister and go to those villages, I have to return that money as a grant with interest." The Chief Minister also seriously considered the water crisis in Punjab and the SYL (Sutlej-Yamuna Link) dispute. He said that Punjab never wanted a war, but war was imposed on it again and again. Now Punjab is being pushed into a water war after the borders. An unnecessary conflict was created with Haryana, but now Punjab has also stood firm. The Chief Minister said that he himself went to Nangal Dam and stopped the supply of excess water. Now Punjabis are not going to tolerate any coercion. Bhagwant Mann once again advised the Central Government that if the water stopped by Pakistan enters the dams of Punjab, then Punjab can provide water to Haryana through Bhakra. He also said that the Punjab government had written six letters to Haryana warning them that they were overusing water but Haryana did not take it seriously.
The Chief Minister said that when the BBMB (Bhakhra-Beas Management Board) gave a decision against Punjab, an all-party meeting was immediately called to give a clear message to the Centre and Haryana.
Along with this, the Punjab government has called a special session of the Vidhan Sabha on Monday on this issue. He said that many districts of Punjab have gone into the "dark zone" and in some places the water level has gone below 600 feet.
Seeing this serious crisis, the government has resolved to supply water to every farm through canals.
The Youth Club Leadership Program organized in Garhshankar was also addressed by many other senior leaders including Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia.
During this, all the youth resolved that this team of 117 people would join hands with thousands of youth to serve Punjab.
