The letter states that the Punjab government plants shade and fruit trees worth crores of rupees through the Panchayats. Similarly, social service organizations and farmers also plant a large number of trees every year. The trees on the roadsides and the fruit and shade trees planted by farmers on tube wells after harvesting the crops are also eaten by these cows and buffaloes.
The letter has demanded that a ban be imposed on free roaming cattle in the district and stray cattle be sent to cow shelters so that the plants planted with hard work and money can grow.
