The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all the traditional artisans of the district to register on the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana www.pmvishwakarma.gov.in portal as soon as possible and take advantage of the benefits given under the scheme. This scheme will not only empower the traditional artisans economically but will also secure their livelihood by connecting them with modern technologies.
Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana
The objective of this scheme is to provide financial and technical assistance to the traditional artisans and craftsmen of the country. This scheme has been created to empower those artisans who are involved in traditional occupations and who need modern resources and training.
Verification is done in a phased manner
Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, applications are verified in a phased manner. In the first phase of the verification process, the interested artisan has to apply on the official portal www.pmvishwakarma.gov.in in which Aadhar card, bank account details and necessary documents are uploaded. In the second phase, the application is sent to the concerned Gram Panchayat and Urban Body. Here the body does physical verification of the traditional craftsmanship of the artisan. In the third phase, the applications verified by the local body are sent to the district level committee and the committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner reviews these applications and grants approval. In the fourth phase, the approved applications are given final approval on the portal of the scheme in which certificates and identity cards are issued to the artisans so that the process of assistance for loan, training and tools begins.
Eligible for the scheme
The scheme includes 18 traditional artisan communities like carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, masons, basket/mat makers, washermen, tailors, cobblers, barbers, toy makers etc.
On this occasion, Joint Director, Industries Department Anshul Dhiman, Industries Department Extension Officer Ankit Bhatia, Viplav Rana, domain experts Om Prakash, Jaidev Singh and others were present.
