Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar March 27, 2025: Today, on the fifth day of the 8th session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Derabassi, District Mohali, S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa asked the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Saund, in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, when the digital library will be ready in Derabassi constituency.
Responding to this, the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that under Section 30 of the Punjab Gram Panchayat Act 1994, it is considered capable of creating a development plan itself, keeping in mind the funds available with it. He said that library buildings are being constructed in villages Bakarpur, Bhankharpur, Dharamgarh, Handesra, Amala and Samgoli under Derabassi block and these are small libraries and to digitize them, the Gram Panchayat can build digital libraries themselves by using their resources under the 15th Finance Commission MNREGA, MPLAD scheme as per their requirement. He said that a proposal should be prepared and sent to them and they will provide full support.
On this, the MLA said, “If we were capable of building it ourselves, we would not have needed to demand. If you can make Majha, Doaba and Malwa digital, then why not Puadh?” The MLA said that the library is a small matter. Derabassi constituency is a big constituency of Punjab, it covers the population of a district. Derabassi Zirakpur is going to become a city like Gurugram in the coming time. I have high hopes from such a lovely minister that all the Punjab government, the Chief Minister, Aman Arora ji will remember you.
The minister said that each person will be given a budget of Rs. 5 crores, they can also make it themselves and along with this he suggested that you make a proposal once and send it, we will consider this matter and promise from our side.
