Saroya- Sahungra, the famous village of Saroya block, has been in the headlines for many decades due to its distinct identity and famous faces. The previous Panchayat of this village did not have to do any major work to create its distinct identity, but a pond of dirty water was built for the Scheduled Caste community, about which the elderly people used to say that it is about 13 kanals. Which has been divided into two parts.
One part of them is crying over its fate in the present era. Which is said to be about 9 kanals. On the eastern side, in front of it, in front of the court of Gugga Jahar Peer, a part of 4 kanals was used to drain excess water from the pond. Which was a part of the 13 kanal pond. But unfortunately during the tenure of the Panchayats, people filled up the 4 kanal pond on the eastern side and occupied it and made their place, due to which its name and trace was erased.
In the remaining 9 canals, the previous Panchayat, with the intention of turning the axis of development upside down from 2018 to 2024, poured 1100/1200 trolleys into the earthen pond and converted its perimeter into a small pond so that the dirty water of the village could collect. It was built in front of people's houses, which also includes the Gurudwara of Satguru Ravidas Maharaj Ji. Due to which the problems of the villagers as well as passersby have increased a lot. The issue of Scheduled Caste pond became a curse instead of a boon for the people of the village. Now the question is why did the former Panch Gurmel Singh (who was the former Sarpanch and a staunch supporter of the entire Panchayat) not remember to give this application to his Panchayat to solve the problem of dirty water standing on this road? This aspect is also worth attention. (Hai) submitted an application in the SDM office Balachaur.
For its immediate solution, the SDM put on duty other officers including XC. Panchayat Raj AXI Amarjit Singh Nawanshahr, SDO Harmanjit Singh and BDO Ashok Kumar have issued a letter asking to come to the village Panchayat house on 28th. On reaching the village, the officials visited the concerned pond. Later, the statement of the former Panchayat was heard in a closed room by AXI Amarjit Singh, SDO Harmanjit Singh and SDO Ashok Kumar. In which they requested to implement more projects, which will cause more pollution in their village and tried to put all the blame on the new Panchayat, saying that the Panchayat is now deliberately not solving this issue.
The present officials said about the project of the previous Panchayat that this project cannot provide a permanent solution for the development of the village. After this, the statement of the current Panchayat was heard, in which the newly appointed Sarpanch Dr. Harbhajan Singh said that his Panchayat has not yet received the charge. That is why this issue is pending. After the meeting, AXI Amarjit Singh said that the soil that the previous Panchayat had illegally dumped in this pond will be removed, then the water problem will be solved. AXI Amarjit Singh further said that the 4 kanal land that the Panchayat has bought in the name of the Panchayat cannot hold the water of all the ponds of the village whose area is about 23 kanal.
On this occasion, SDO Harmanjit Singh said that in this way the village will get into even bigger trouble. Apart from this, a survey of all the ponds of the village will be done, in which the 4 kanal pond located in front of Gugga Jahar Peer will also be freed from encroachment and emptied and dirty water will be poured into it. By conducting a survey, the problem of dirty water being released in the Shamlat land of the village will be solved.

What did the BDPO say:-
After hearing the statements of both the parties on the spot, Block Panchayat Officer Saroya said that the problem of water will be solved by removing the soil from the pond. Concrete will now be laid instead of gravel on the road damaged by this dirt. At present, the water will be drained temporarily, so that the road can be prevented from getting further damaged and people can pass safely. The department has got approval to build the road with concrete.

What did ADC (Development) say:-
When ADC (Development) Avneet Kaur of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was talked to about this matter, she said that I will first get complete information about this and after that whatever appropriate solution can be found, it will be done.
On this occasion, Sarpanch Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Secretary Rakesh Kumar, Superintendent Parmanand Lucky, Panch Kuldeep Singh, Panch Rashpal Singh, Panch Gurpal Kaur, Panch Ajitpal Singh Khela, Panch Nirmal Kaur, Panch Usha Rani, Numberdar and former Sarpanch Satnam Singh Khela were present. On this occasion, a large number of villagers including Numberdar Om Prakash Singh, Numberdar Mukhtiar Singh, Block President Satnam Sahungra, Rural Labor Union leader Bagicha Singh Sahungra, former Sarpanch and old Panchayat were also present.
