
Dr. SSBUICET celebrates 40 years reunion of 1985 batch
Chandigarh, March 3, 2025- Dr. SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (Dr. SSBUICET, formerly DCET), Panjab University, Chandigarh and DCET Alumni Association, Chandigarh hosted a memorable alumni meet to honour the batch of 1985, marking 40 years since their graduation on 3rd March 2025 at Bhatnagar Auditorium. The event was filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and celebration, as former students gathered to reconnect with each other and their alma mater.
Chandigarh, March 3, 2025- Dr. SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (Dr. SSBUICET, formerly DCET), Panjab University, Chandigarh and DCET Alumni Association, Chandigarh hosted a memorable alumni meet to honour the batch of 1985, marking 40 years since their graduation on 3rd March 2025 at Bhatnagar Auditorium. The event was filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and celebration, as former students gathered to reconnect with each other and their alma mater.
The event began with a warm welcome by the Chairperson, Prof. Anupama Sharma, who expressed delight at the substantial turnout. She highlighted the department’s recent progress across various fields. She emphasised the importance of the alumni community in enriching the institute's legacy and inspiring current students. A group photo captured the spirit of the occasion, followed by a high tea session where alumni exchanged stories and memories from their time at the department.
The batch of 1985 took a moment to honour the esteemed faculty members who had played a pivotal role in shaping their academic and professional journeys. In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, they expressed appreciation for the dedication and mentorship that had guided them during their formative years. A special reel, Fabulous Forty, was showcased, capturing the cherished memories, achievements, and lifelong bonds of the batch, evoking nostalgia and joy among attendees. As a token of their appreciation and commitment to giving back, the batch of 1985 generously donated 12 state-of-the-art projectors to be installed in the department's lecture halls, enhancing the learning experience for future generations of students.
A cultural program organised by current students brought energy and vibrancy to the celebration, showcasing the talent and dedication of the next generation of Chemical engineers. Alumni were thrilled to witness the enthusiasm and creativity of the students, a reminder of their own days at the institute.
In a heartfelt segment, alumni shared their experiences and the significance of reunions in cherishing golden memories. They spoke about the transformative years spent at the department and discussed meaningful ways to contribute to the institute and society at large, reflecting on the values that had shaped them into successful professionals.
Prof. Ritu Gupta delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the alumni for their presence, contributions, and continued support for Dr. SSBUICET. The event concluded with a lunch at the hostel, providing alumni with a unique opportunity to revisit familiar places and reminisce about the days they once spent there, sharing laughter and memories over a meal that evoked a sense of belonging.
