
Promotion and spread of Hindi language in Norway

Chandigarh, March 3, 2025- Chandigarh | Today, on March 03, 2025, an important lecture was organized by the Hindi Department of Punjab University, Chandigarh on the topic 'Promotion and spread of Hindi language in Norway'.
In this program, Mr. Suresh Chandra Shukla 'Sharad Alok' (President, Indo-Norwegian Information and Cultural Forum Member, Norsk Forfattersentrum (Norwegian Writers Centre), and Authors Guilds of India) attended as the keynote speaker. The program started with the formal welcome of Mr. Suresh Chandra Shukla by the Head of the Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar.
After this, Suresh Chandra started his lecture. He discussed in detail the status of Hindi in Norway and said that other languages should also be learned along with the mother tongue. He believed that learning another language does not destroy our own language, but it makes us mentally mature and provides an opportunity to understand different cultures. Suresh Chandra ji also gave information about the geographical, social and cultural situation of Norway.
He told that cultural relations between Hindi and Norwegian languages are getting stronger, and as an example of this, he told that literary magazines like 'SPEIL' are being published in Norway, which bring Hindi and Norwegian literature on one platform. After this, Suresh Chandra presented some songs written by him for the students, which the students liked very much. He also asked the students about their curiosities, and the students put forward their questions with great enthusiasm.
Suresh Chandra answered those questions in a very interesting and inspiring manner, which further increased the enthusiasm of the students. Students of the department, Satakshi, Kanika Sharma, Narayan Singh, Pawan Sharma and researcher Kiran also gave their presentation in the program, in which they presented thoughts, songs and poems.
In this program, the students understood many important aspects related to Hindi language and literature and they gained a new perspective to see Hindi as an international language. In the end, the Head of the Department Prof. Ashok Kumar thanked Mr. Suresh Chandra Shukla and the program concluded. This program proved to be an important step in the promotion of Hindi language and became a source of inspiration for the students.
