Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari's employee while accepting Rs 3,000 bribe

In this regard, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the arrest was made on the complaint of Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Nai Abadi, Nawanshahr city in SBS Nagar district.
He said that the complainant had sought help from the Vigilance Bureau as Patwari Vipan Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 for the process of transfer of inheritance of his ancestral house.
Earlier, the complainant had given an advance bribe of Rs 2,000 to his employee Ram Pal as per the instructions of the Patwari. When the accused Patwari insisted on paying the remaining amount of the agreed bribe, the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau for help.
The spokesperson further said that after conducting a preliminary investigation of this complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught the accused Rampal red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 as the second installment from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. During this raid, Patwari Vipan Kumar managed to escape from the spot by evading arrest.
He said that in this regard, a case has been registered against the accused and the Patwari in the Jalandhar Range Police Station of Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The arrested accused will be produced in the competent court tomorrow, while the teams of Vigilance Bureau are vigorously searching for the absconding Patwari. Further investigation is going on in this case.
