Chandigarh- Shiromani Akali Dal Punar Surjit’s chief spokesperson and former chairman Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar has said that through the misuse of AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology, some mischievous elements are conspiring to provoke and hurt religious sentiments, which is very condemnable and worrying.
He clarified that the government should immediately take strictest legal action against such criminals, so that elements who hurt the sentiments of any religion or society are never encouraged.
Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar said that playing with religious places and sentiments cannot be tolerated in any way. Technology like AI is for human welfare and development, but if it is used in the wrong way, it can become a big threat to social peace and harmony.
He demanded that strict policies be made immediately from the Central and Punjab governments so that such mischiefs can be completely stopped in the coming time.
Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar said that AI is such a modern technology which, if used properly, can bring about revolutionary changes in the education, health, agriculture and employment sectors. Due to this technology, people can get faster facilities and better opportunities. But if it is used incorrectly, it can also cause great harm instead of benefit.
He gave an example that nowadays rumors are being spread among the people by making deepfake videos, false information and pictorial distortion of religious texts, tampering with religious places.
Such trends not only create misunderstandings among the people but can also become a serious threat to social and religious unity. Therefore, it is imperative that technology companies and the government work together to monitor these matters immediately.
He concluded by saying that people also need to be careful and should do thorough verification before sharing digital content related to any religious or social issue. It is the responsibility of every section of society to use AI as a tool for welfare, not as a weapon to disrupt peace.
