Una, February 14- State Election Commissioner Anil Kumar Khachi held a meeting with administrative officers in the District Council meeting room of Una on Friday to review the preliminary preparations for the elections of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Bodies proposed in the year 2025-26.
The State Election Commissioner said that prior planning and proper preparation is necessary for smooth and fair conduct of the electoral process. He said that the margin of victory and defeat in local body elections is often very less, due to which the public keeps a special eye on it. In such a situation, all the officers and employees should have complete knowledge of the electoral process and their responsibilities, so that there is no problem of any kind.
Mr. Khachi directed the officers to make a thorough study of the Electoral Act, rules and guidelines issued from time to time by the Election Commission. He emphasized that all officers and employees should get timely clarification of any doubt related to the electoral process, so that smooth execution of elections can be ensured. The State Election Commission is ready to help in every way in this.
He asked the officers to pay special attention to the completion of the process of preparing the voter list for the elections with utmost vigilance and caution. Also, he underlined the need for record-keeping of the electoral process, maintenance of registers and ensuring timely entries.
He informed that the Election Commission will further organize proper training workshops for all the concerned officers and employees. In the doubt resolution session organized at the end of the meeting, the State Election Commissioner resolved the questions and queries of the participants related to the election process.
In the meeting, Electoral Officer Sanjeev Mahajan gave a detailed presentation on electoral preparation, planning and management and provided complete information about the electoral process to all the officers in a sequential manner.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar assured to ensure strict compliance of all the guidelines of the State Election Commissioner. Assistant Commissioner Varinder Sharma, SDM Una Vishwamohan Dev Chauhan, SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma, SDM Bangana Sonu Goyal, SDM Amb Sachin Sharma, SDM Gagret Saumil Gautam, District Panchayat Officer Shravan Kumar and officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
