Nawanshahr/Banga- Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar set up a demonstration plot for mustard cultivation in village Bains under National Food Security Mission (Oilseed) as per the guidelines of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rajinder Kumar. This plot was set up in the fields of progressive farmer Mohan Singh of village Bains.
He has sown mustard crop in 7 acres. Farmers were met on this plot. On this occasion, Agriculture Officer Banga Dr. Lachman Das said that this mustard has been sown in lines, due to which the crop yield is high and the produce is of good quality. There is no disease or pest on the crop and no spray is required.
He appealed to the farmers to increase the area under the cultivation of oilseed crops, so that the country can become self-sufficient in the production of oilseed crops. On this occasion, Agriculture Extension Officer Surinder Pal Singh, Vikram Singh, Sandeep Gangar, besides Mohan Singh, Chaman Lal Secretary, Sandeep Singh, Manjit Singh Bhutan, Ranveer Singh, Dilawar Singh and others were present.
