
Deputy Commissioner held a review meeting regarding preparations for monsoon season 2025, directed all departments to manage disaster with mutual coordination.
Una, June 17- Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal on Tuesday held a review meeting with the officials of the concerned departments to deal with the preparations and possible emergency situations in view of monsoon season-2025. He directed all the departments to prepare an action plan to effectively deal with any emergency during the monsoon and appoint departmental nodal officers.
Una, June 17- Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal on Tuesday held a review meeting with the officials of the concerned departments to deal with the preparations and possible emergency situations in view of monsoon season-2025. He directed all the departments to prepare an action plan to effectively deal with any emergency during the monsoon and appoint departmental nodal officers.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized on ensuring prompt dissemination of weather forecasts and warnings. He directed the District Disaster Management Authority to run a public awareness campaign and all the officers to download Sachet and Mausam mobile app and take regular updates.
He asked to identify dilapidated buildings, landslide prone areas and sensitive roads and ensure timely repair. Along with this, instructions were also given to ensure advance storage of essential relief materials like ration, LPG, medicines, blankets, tarpaulins etc.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized on timely identification and removal of dry and dangerous trees, availability of temporary bridges, and ensuring security arrangements related to power supply. He directed the Municipal Corporation, National Highway Authority and Jal Shakti Department to complete the cleaning of drains, gutters and drainage channels on time for smooth drainage of rainwater so that waterlogging does not occur.
Instructions were given to the Jal Shakti Department and Panchayati Raj Department to ensure cleaning and chlorination of water sources and drinking water tanks and the Health Department to ensure availability of medicines, especially anti-snakebite, in all primary health centers. The Public Works Department was asked to repair machinery and deploy it strategically in disaster prone areas. The Deputy Commissioner also directed all SDMs, Home Guards, Fire Services and other departments to keep the quick response teams alert.
The Deputy Commissioner talked about maintaining coordination with NDRF, Army and paramilitary forces so that their help can be taken when needed. He especially asked to shift the people living in Swan River and other flood prone areas to safer places in time.
Keeping in mind the sudden flood like situation in the industrial area Bathu-Bathdi last year, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Mining Officer, Sub Divisional Officer Haroli and IOCL pipeline management to ensure 24 hour monitoring in this area with mutual coordination. He directed that there should not be any kind of obstruction in the flow of the ravine so that flood like situation can be dealt with in time.
Instructions to inspect coaching centers
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the Sub Divisional Officers to inspect all the coaching centers in their area. He especially asked to pay attention to fire safety, drainage system and safe use of basement. Legal and disciplinary action will be taken if the rules are not followed.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that a control room has also been set up at the district headquarters to deal with any emergency situation, whose toll free number is 1077. He directed the Sub Divisional Officers to keep the control room functional at the sub divisional level during the monsoon season. This emergency operation center will be functional 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the departments to regularly report the damage and loss on the online portal developed by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and to share the report with the District Administration along with documentation and photographs of all important incidents.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the departments to complete their preparations before the arrival of monsoon and be fully prepared to deal effectively with any disaster situation by working with mutual coordination and promptness.
On this occasion, ADC Mahendra Pal Gurjar, ASP Sanjeev Bhatia, SDM Una Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan, SDM Gagret Somil Gautam, SDM Amb Sachin Sharma, CMO Dr. Sanjeev Verma and officers of the concerned departments were present.
