
Mission 'Hoshiar' launched to eradicate drugs
Hoshiarpur, January 7: District Police and Civil Administration jointly launched Mission 'Hoshiar' here today; seeking cooperation from village panchayats and residents through an awareness program against drugs and appealed for joint efforts against drugs so that this social evil can be completely eradicated.

During the presence of 300 panchayats and representatives of Hoshiarpur Block-1 and 2 at the local city center, the administration appealed; that in the areas where any person sells drugs, his information should be immediately given to the District Police Helpline No. 95016-60318 or Control Room 01882-247506, 75290-30100 or Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline No. 97791-00200 so that appropriate action can be taken.
SSP Surendra Lamba said that this initiative is being taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav to further intensify the campaign to eradicate drugs by directly interacting with the people. Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal thanked the Panchayats for uniting against the evil of drugs and said that the Panchayats should make strong efforts for the complete eradication of drugs so that the youth can be prevented from going astray.
He said that the Panchayats can make an important contribution to the complete eradication of this scourge. MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa congratulated the civil and police administration for Mission 'Hoshiar' and said that the Panchayats can play an important role in eradicating social evils, especially drugs. He said that drug smugglers and sellers should not be helped in any way.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, while seeking meaningful cooperation from women in the mission against drugs, said that they should raise their voice against drug smugglers and sellers by posting watches in the villages. He assured that the administration is fully ready to provide all possible help on receiving information.
SSP Surendra Lamba said that the police administration will provide all necessary support to the panchayats and take appropriate action against drugs and will also provide full support to further promote sports in the villages. He said that the war against drugs is impossible to win without public cooperation, for which the people should be given all kinds of information in this regard through the numbers issued by the district police.
