
District Language Office organized a seminar on the topic 'Current Status of Mother Language Punjabi'
Nawanshahr: As part of the Punjabi Month celebrations being celebrated by the Language Department, Punjab, the District Language Officer; Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a seminar on the topic 'Current Status of Mother Language Punjabi' at Prakash Model Senior Secondary School, Nawanshahr today.
Nawanshahr: As part of the Punjabi Month celebrations being celebrated by the Language Department, Punjab, the District Language Officer; Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a seminar on the topic 'Current Status of Mother Language Punjabi' at Prakash Model Senior Secondary School, Nawanshahr today. Assistant Professor Dr. Kewal Ram and eminent story writer Ajmer Sidhu were present as the main speakers in this seminar. The seminar was presided over by Mahinder Singh Dosanjh.
The seminar began with the welcome of the guests and audience by the Principal of the school, Sukhraj Singh Jhand. On this occasion, he appreciated the various activities being carried out by the Language Department, Punjab for the promotion and dissemination of Punjabi language. He described such events as a boon for the students. The event was started by singing Shabad by Khushi Armaan, a student of the school. After this, three students from the school, Gagandeep Kaur, Janiya Singh and Harpreet Kaur, read pamphlets on the current status of mother language Punjabi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kewal Ram gave a detailed account of the language acts made so far regarding Punjabi language and also presented its accurate and precise statistics. Continuing the same line, Ajmer Sidhu clarified the challenges faced by the mother tongue Punjabi and also clarified that unless the mother tongue Punjabi is made the language of employment, full support from the society cannot be given in its implementation. In his presiding speech, Mahendra Singh Dosanjh informed the audience about his life experience. He appreciated the uniqueness of the ideas presented by the speakers and urged the society to connect with the rich background and glorious heritage of the mother tongue Punjabi. Finally, the District Language Officer Harkirat Singh of the Language Department Punjab thanked the guests and the audience for coming. On this occasion, he spoke about the importance of the mother tongue Punjabi and shed light on the activities being carried out by the Language Department Punjab regarding the Punjabi language and literature. School staff, students and prominent personalities of the area participated in the occasion. During the event, the Language Department also organized a book exhibition and honored the speakers who attended.
