
Ban on use of cellular phones/cordless phones/wireless sets/loud speakers/megaphones etc. within 200 meters of polling booths
S.A.S.Nagar, July 25: The Panchayat (By-elections)-2025 are being held in the district on 27.07.2025 and the counting of votes is also being done on the same day. On the day of Panchayat elections, campaigning within 200 meters of polling booths, use of cellular phones/wireless sets/loud speakers/megaphones etc. by any person, putting up posters/banners related to campaigning are likely to disrupt peace and order during the election process, which may cause disruption in the work of the security forces deployed to maintain law and order and may lead to deterioration of the law and order situation. Private and government property and human life may be damaged.

Therefore, in order to conduct the election work smoothly, peacefully and to maintain law and order during the elections, Smt. Komal Mittal, IAS. District Magistrate, SAS Nagar, exercising the powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023, and in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure issued by the State Election Commission, Punjab, has ordered the imposition of the following restrictions within a radius of 200 meters of the polling booths constructed in the district SAS Nagar on the election day, dated 27.07.2025-
1. No campaigning will be done by any candidate or his supporter at the polling booths or public/private places. No person shall make noise or make a racket near the polling booths.
2. No person shall use cellular phone/cordless phone/wireless set/loud speaker/megaphone etc. within 200 meters of the polling booths. This order shall not apply to observers posted on election duty, administrative, police officers, security personnel posted on duty, government employees related to polling/counting.
3. No poster/banner of any kind related to campaigning shall be put up.
4. No political party, candidate contesting the election shall set up its polling booth/tent within 200 meters of the polling booth.
5. No person, except the State Election Commission, Punjab, District Election Officer, S.A.S. A person authorized by the Returning Officer of a Nagar or Gram Panchayat constituency shall not take his private vehicle within 200 meters of any polling booth.
For the elections to be held on July 27 in the district, polling booths have been set up for the Panchayat elections at village Dharamgarh, Green Enclave Daun in Mohali block and Roorkee Kham in Majri block.
