
1.53 lakh children will be given Albendazole supplements in Una
Una, August 5- In Una district, 1 lakh 53 thousand 544 children and adolescents up to the age of 19 years will be given a dose of deworming medicine (Albendazole) on August 9. Out of these, 41 thousand 358 children up to the age of 5 years will be given Vitamin-A supplement along with Albendazole. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Monday while presiding over the meeting of District Task Force organized under the National Deworming Program. He said that the children who missed the medicine on August 9 will be given this dose on August 16.

He said that Albendazole medicine will be given to children aged 6 to 19 years in all government and private schools of the district and to children aged 1 to 5 years in Anganwadi schools.
Review of implementation of National Adolescent Health Programme and School Health and Wellness Programme
Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner also held a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee to review the implementation of the National Adolescent Health Program and the School Health and Wellness Program in the district. He said that the role of the Education Department is important in making these programs dedicated to the overall health and nutrition of children a success. Emphasizing on strong coordination between the Health and Education Department, he asked to improve the reporting system. He directed the Education Department to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the consumption of the supply of nutritional and health care related medicines received for school children at the block level.
Let us tell you, the National Adolescent Health Program is dedicated to the health care of adolescents in the age group of 10-19 years, as well as nutrition, reproductive health and protection from drug abuse. Under this, the focus is on mental health, nutrition, non-communicable diseases, gender-based violence and prevention of drug abuse among adolescents. At the same time, the School Health and Wellness Program focuses on the health and nutrition of children in schools. This includes identifying malnourished and anemic children and early detection of diseases in children and adolescents, treating them, promoting the use of safe drinking water in schools and efforts to promote yoga and meditation.
