Chandigarh: 24th July, 2024:- The department of Physics of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh in collaboration with National Agro-food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali is organizing an International Conference on Engineered Materials for Sustainable Development (EMSD-2024) from 24th July to 26th July, 2024. The chief guest for this conference Prof. Ram Rajasekharan (Former Director, CFTRI, Mysore and CIMAP, Lucknow), Guest of Honor Prof. Reinhard Miller along with Director PEC, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia (Ad Interim), Prof. Ashwani Pareek (Executive Director, NABI), Prof. Nitin Kumar Singhal (NABI),and Prof. Sandeep Kumar graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. 
Initially Prof. Sandeep Kumar, provided a brief overview about the conference. Initially he welcomed the delegates from the corners of the world at the portals of PEC. He also shed light on the various sessions going to be held at this 3-day conference. He expressed his gratitude towards the dignitaries for being a part of EMSD-2024. 
This conference would address the need for sustainable practices. It focuses on identifying, synthesizing and applying engineered materials to enhance sustainability across various fields. It would encourage a comprehensive approach to sustainable solutions, fostering dialogue between researchers and industry professionals for effective commercialization. 
Director Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, expressed his gratitude to be part of this conference. He also congratulated his colleagues for organizing such a vast scale International Conference. He also shed light on the glorious & historical legacy of PEC, especially the heritage PEC Auditorium. He also gave his insights on the various research and academic activities of the Institute. Lastly, he said that 'We Welcome you all with Open hands at the portals of PEC.'  
Executive Director NABI, Prof. Ashwani Pareek, welcomed everyone on behalf of NABI, Mohali. He said that these 3 days of understanding and discussions are very crucial in initiating new dialogues, to talk and discuss about sustainability. It is the key to success and to grow, especially from the land of green revolution, Punjab, we can work together for sustainable practices.
The chief guest of the ceremony, Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, expressed his pleasure at being part of this great gathering. He expressed his gratitude towards the organizers and Director of the century old institution PEC and department of Bio-technology. He shed his scientific insights on a variety of topics from microorganisms to outer space, from cement factories to bio-cement. 
Guest of Honor, Prof. Rienhard Miller, expressed his deepest gratitude. He also asked the delegates to enjoy the conference, and use this opportunity of face to face meetings and scientific minds of humans to interact with. In his plenary session he beautifully provided his insights of Adsorptions of Surfactants at the Water/Air, Water/Alkane Vapor and Water/Liquid Alkane Interfaces. He also motivated the students with the words, 'Do something crazy in Science, a little craziness is needed in Science'.
Lastly, Prof. Nitin Kumar Singhal, provided a vote of thanks. He also formally welcomed the delegates at this 3-day conference on sustainable practices.
