Addressing the gathering here today during the state-level function dedicated to the 626th birth anniversary of Bhagat Kabir, the Chief Minister said that the great poet and saint of the 15th century, Bhagat Kabir ji, gave the people a message of a balanced life.
He said that Bhagat Kabir's life and philosophy always inspired people to live a harmonious life. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is the need of the hour to maintain unity, brotherhood and peace by following the ideals of Bhagat Kabir ji. Calling upon the people to follow the teachings of Bhagat Kabir ji in the right sense, the Chief Minister said that the need of the hour is to rise above the discrimination of caste, colour, race and religion to create an equal society. He said that the life and great teachings of Bhagat Kabir ji are recorded in the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji through which the eternal message of love, peace and harmony was given. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that although Bhagat Kabir ji's early life was spent in a Muslim family, he was greatly influenced by the Hindu saint Ramananda, who had a profound influence on his writings during the Bhakti movement. Urging the people to follow the ideals of the great saint, the Chief Minister said that this path can play an important role in building a harmonious and progressive society. He said that the great Sikh Gurus have taught us to fight against oppression, injustice and tyranny. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government is leaving no stone unturned to restore the ancient glory of the state. The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is making concerted efforts to revive the health and education system in the state. "Until now it was a common man's compulsion to send his child to a government school, but within six months it will be his wish as the education system is being comprehensively reformed," the Chief Minister said. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 'Schools of Eminence' have been set up across the state to provide quality education to the students and similarly the government health system is also being upgraded. This time 158 students of government schools have cleared the JEE exam for the first time. He said that this is just the beginning because in the coming days more results will come out for which his government is constantly making efforts. The Chief Minister also said that the state government is opening eight hi-tech coaching centers to train students for competitive exams. The Chief Minister said that the state government has written a new success story by purchasing Goindwal Power Plant owned by private company GVK Power. He said that for the first time a reverse trend has been seen in the state as the government has bought a private power plant whereas earlier the state governments used to sell government properties to interested individuals at a pittance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that all possible efforts will be made to bring the benefits of public welfare schemes to the people at the grass root level. Before this, Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa and Lok Sabha Member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabewal also addressed. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rodi, Lok Sabha Member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabewal, MLA Jasbir Singh Raja Gill and Dr. Ravjot Singh were also present.
