Women and Child Development Department, Punjab creates awareness about the rights of women and children

SAS Nagar, November 21, 2024: Social Security and Women & Child Development Department, Punjab Wale Rattan College of Nursing, Sohana, District SAS Nagar organized an awareness programme on the rights of women and children. Mrs. Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Women attended the programme as the Chief Guest.

SAS Nagar, November 21, 2024: Social Security and Women & Child Development Department, Punjab Wale Rattan College of Nursing, Sohana, District SAS Nagar organized an awareness programme on the rights of women and children. Mrs. Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Women attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
On the occasion, Ms. Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Women shared her views on empowering women and children, especially making them aware of their rights. She said that women and children have a special place in the society and governments have constituted commissions at national and state levels besides making laws for the protection of their interests.
During an awareness programme on the rights of women and children, Advocate Ms. Rupinder Pal Kaur, District Legal Aid Authority, SAS Nagar, shared detailed information about Domestic Violence and Protection of Women Act, 2005 and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prevention and Suppression) Act, 2013 with the supervisors, Anganwadi workers and students of the Nursing College present during the awareness programme.
Rajwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, shared information about child rights like POCSE Act 2012, Child Care Institutions (CCI), Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 etc. during the awareness session. Later, brochures related to women rights and laws were released by the Chief Guest and these brochures were distributed among the supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers and college students present on the occasion.
At the end of the programme, Mrs. Rajinder Kaur, Principal, Rattan College of Nursing thanked the Chief Guest and other dignitaries for attending this awareness programme. Miss Sumandeep Kaur, Deputy Director, Punjab State Women Commission, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, District Programme Officer, SAS Nagar, Group Child Development Project Officers were present on the occasion.
