Youth Should Find Technological Solutions to Himachals Challenges Governor

Una, September 3:- There is a need to develop technology to deal with snowfall, landslides and other natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh that can provide advance information about possible disasters and help reduce damage in time. Young technologists from IIIT Una can make an important contribution in this direction. Governor Kavinder Gupta said this while addressing the 8th Convocation of IIIT Una as the chief guest. The convocation was held on Thursday at the auditorium of the Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra, Una.
The Governor called upon the graduates to develop technological solutions in areas such as disaster management, agriculture, water conservation and rural entrepreneurship in accordance with the needs of Himachal Pradesh. He said that technical education becomes meaningful when knowledge and innovation are connected with solutions to the real problems faced by society.
He said that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), semiconductors, robotics and quantum computing are rapidly changing the world. In such an era, young technologists should use their technical expertise to develop solutions that benefit a wider section of society.
Addressing the convocation, the Governor congratulated the graduates, their families and faculty members. He said that a convocation marks not only the completion of one phase of education but also the beginning of a journey filled with new responsibilities and opportunities. He told the degree recipients that their degree is not their destination but the foundation of their journey.
He said that the young people graduating from the institution are moving forward carrying with them the trust of their parents, the expectations of their teachers and the hopes of the nation. He called upon the youth to contribute to building a developed India in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision-2047, continue learning with changing technology and use their knowledge in the interest of society and the nation.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of character, honesty and responsible citizenship along with technical competence. He called upon the students to move forward keeping in mind environmental protection, national unity and integrity, and their responsibilities towards society.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized that youth power is India’s greatest strength and that 21st-century India will move forward through the power of knowledge, skills, innovation and technology. His vision of Developed India-2047 is not limited to economic growth but is a resolve to build an India that is technologically capable, self-reliant, innovative, inclusive and capable of playing a leading role in the world. The Prime Minister has called upon the youth to actively participate in the country’s development journey with the spirit of “Sabka Prayas”. The Governor expressed confidence that the students and young engineers of IIIT Una would provide new energy and a new direction to this national resolve.
On the occasion, Lok Sabha MP Anurag Singh Thakur said that today’s youth are not only the future of India but also the destiny of India. He said that education is a means of seeking knowledge that opens the way for new ideas, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. He called upon the youth to face challenges with courage and move forward on the strength of their capabilities. He said that the youth have an important role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Developed India-2047. Referring to the spirit of Param Vir Chakra awardee martyr Captain Vikram Batra’s “Yeh Dil Maange More”, he called upon the youth to move forward with the spirit of doing something even better for the country. He also advised students to understand the fundamental rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution, stay away from drugs, take part in sports and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Rajya Sabha MP Prof. Sikander Kumar said that the youth of the country are ready to lead India in the 21st century. He called upon students to become job creators and contribute to the development of society and the nation through knowledge, science, art and technology. He said that the youth have an important role in accelerating the goal of Developed India-2047. He emphasized developing new technologies to address challenges such as snowfall, landslides and other natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh, as well as taking technology to different sections of society and remote areas. He called upon the youth to remain curious and never compromise on character and honesty.
During the convocation ceremony, the graduates took an oath and expressed their commitment to integrity, upholding the dignity of the country, profession and institution, environmental protection, national unity, and using their knowledge in the service of society.

**206 Students Receive Degrees
A total of 206 students received degrees at the 8th Convocation of IIIT Una, including 189 B.Tech. and 17 M.Tech. (CSE-Data Science) students. The first batch of M.Tech. CSE (Data Science) students also graduated on this occasion.
Institute Director Prof. Manish Gaur presented the academic session progress report. He highlighted the institute’s achievements in academics, placements, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The B.Tech. graduating batch recorded a 95.86 per cent placement rate. Out of 169 students who appeared for placements, 162 were selected. The students received a highest package of Rs. 53.6 lakh per annum and an average package of Rs. 13.46 lakh per annum. More than 70 employers participated in the placement process.
The branch-wise placement rate was 96.49 per cent in CSE, 98.31 per cent in ECE and 92.45 per cent in IT.

**Medals for Academic Excellence
In B.Tech. CSE, Vansh Gaba secured the Gold Medal with a CGPA of 9.21, Amritansh Jha received the Silver Medal with 9.16, and Paras Tyagi received the Bronze Medal with 9.10.
In B.Tech. ECE, Chandraaditya Parmar secured the Gold Medal with 9.43, Kaustubh Agrawal received the Silver Medal with 9.31, and Sharma Vivek Anilkumar received the Bronze Medal with 9.17.
In B.Tech. IT, Anshika Arora and Harsh Yadav secured the Gold Medal with 9.19, Tushar received the Silver Medal with 8.79, and Aryan Arya received the Bronze Medal with 8.74.
In M.Tech. CSE (Data Science), Ankur Sharma secured the Gold Medal with 8.73, Shivangi Thakur received the Silver Medal with 8.24, and Kishan Srivastava received the Bronze Medal with 8.23.
Former HP SIDC Vice-Chairman Prof. Ram Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, Superintendent of Police Sachin Hiremath, members of the Board of Governors and Senate, faculty members, parents and members of the institute community were present on the occasion.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by IIIT Una Registrar Ravi Saini.
