Voters can file claims and objections until September 12 Deputy Commissioner
Hoshiarpur: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain stated that, in accordance with the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission of India under SIR-2026, the preliminary publication of the electoral roll was carried out on August 13 by the Electoral Registration Officers of all assembly constituencies in the district.
She informed that there are a total of 1,601 polling stations across the district's seven assembly constituencies, with 1,169,930 voters registered in the preliminary electoral roll. This figure includes 606,876 men, 563,024 women, and 30 voters belonging to the third gender.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that claims and objections regarding the preliminary electoral roll would be accepted until September 12, 2026. Eligible citizens whose names are not included in the electoral roll—and who will be 18 years of age or older as of October 1, 2026—can fill out Form No. 6 to have their names added.
Form No. 7 can be submitted to object to a name in the electoral roll or to request the removal of a name, while Form No. 8 can be submitted for corrections to details. These applications can be filed at the respective BLO/ERO offices or online via the Voter Helpline.
Ashika Jain stated that the respective Electoral Registration Officers will dispose of the received claims and objections by October 8, 2026. Subsequently, the final publication of the electoral roll for the district will take place on October 12, 2026.
She added that notices are being issued by the district's Electoral Registration Officers to 'unmapped' voters and to those whose details contained errors identified during the mapping process. Voters are urged that if they receive a notice from the concerned Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, they should present their documents at the specified location on the designated date.
