Voter Registration and Awareness Camp Organised at Government Polytechnic College Khuni Majra

SAS Nagar, August 28:- A voter registration and awareness camp was organised at Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra, with the objective of enrolling the maximum number of eligible young people in the electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision.
The camp was organised under the able leadership and guidance of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ms. Komal Mittal, under the leadership of the college Principal, Ms. Raksha Kiran.
During the camp, District Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Professor Gurbaksh Singh Antal, and the Officer In-charge of the Civil Engineering Department of the college informed the students about the importance of voter registration and the participation of youth in democracy. On the occasion, the students were also given detailed information about the process of registering as voters through online platforms, including the ECI Net and voters.eci.gov.in.
The students were informed that those who have attained the age of 18 years or above as of the qualifying date of October 1, 2026, must apply to have their names included in the electoral roll and exercise their right to vote responsibly.
A total of 248 students participated in the camp, of whom 128 were found eligible for registration as voters. The eligible students were provided on-the-spot guidance regarding the online registration process and encouraged to have their names included in the electoral roll.
On the occasion, college Principal Ms. Raksha Kiran encouraged the students to actively participate in the democratic process and said that voting is not only a right but also an important democratic responsibility of every citizen.
She said that during the Special Intensive Revision, voter registration and awareness camps would be organised at various times in all technical education institutions in the district, including engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges, ITIs and pharmacy colleges, so that the maximum number of eligible students aged 18 years or above could be included in the electoral roll.
During the camp, Head of the Applied Sciences Department Ms. Kavita Singh, Head of the Mechanical Department Mr. Sanjeev Jindal, Mr. Kuldeep Rai and other staff members of the college also participated actively and encouraged the students to register as voters.
The district administration appealed to all eligible youth in the district to have their names included in the electoral roll to further strengthen democracy and exercise their right to vote responsibly.
